We all saw the "Mirror Universe" of course but what are some other fun alternate universe ideas do you think would have been fun to see. For example their are two that come to mind for me. 1 The Bajorans sold the station to the Ferengi after the Ocupation. Humans in this universe are basically illegal imigrants of sorts. The Ferengi Hire them out to do the jobs a Ferengi won't do. In this Universe Quark is in charge of the station which has been turned into a floating Vegas in space. Sisko is his personal chief. O'Brien is Rom's personal asitant because Rom is the chief engineer. Bashir is a male prostitute. Quark is married to Jadzia who runs the bar. Odo is Quark's personal Butler. Kira is in charge of station security. I will list my other idea later. Jason

Quark runs the amusement park with Rom as the ride mechanic. Sisko is the chief tour guide. Dax works the holo-coaster. Kira works the Free-Gravity Fall. Worf takes the kiddies for a special ride around the wormhole in the Defiant. And Bashir gets ready to put band aids on scuffed elbows and stubbed toes.

I like that Terok Nor idea, real dark. How's this: Star Trek: Dominion The Dominion have overrun the quadrant. Bajor is under Cardassian control while the Breen and Weyoun control Earth. The majority of Starfleet ships ignored the President's surrender order and continue to fight, ready to drive the Dominion back into the gamma quadrant. Captain Sisko and the Starfleet officers of DS9 now command the Defiant, Kira and Odo reconstitute the Bajoran Resistance to overthrow Legate Dukat and the Female Founder, and Quark is stuck running his bar. Kai Winn is in hiding with the Vedek Assembly and First Minister Shakaar is in exile on a neutral world with the Bajoran Provisional Government. When Sisko finds the Orb of the Emissary, it sets him on a path to reclaim Bajor from the Dominion, free Earth and return the galaxy to peace.
The true alternate universe: Captain Benny Russell is disgraced after being overcome by deluisions that a paraplegic psychic school teacher killed his wife. Russell's father, Admiral Cartwright, orders Colonel West to give him an out of the way assignment commanding the old Cardassian mining station, Empok Nor. Soon, though, Benny discovers that his father and West are traitors, and assembles a rag tag team of heroes to take them down. There's Major Iliana Ghemor, a Cardassian operative struggling with the challenge of impersonating a bisexual Bajoran dominatrix Intendant. There's Colonel Worf and Kolos, Klingon lawyers friendly with Starfleet. There's the financial advisors, Daimon Letek and Grand Nagus Grint. And there's a Changeling posing as a doctor, a Manhattan waitress, a Genii from the Pegasus galaxy, a woman trapped in an evil cube, a cunning Sicilian, and a 20th Century serial killer-- but god knows what purpose any of them serve. Recurring villains include a gambler from San Francisco, an Andorian starship commander, B'Elanna Torres' ex-husband, the first humanoid in the galaxy, and a terrible nurse named Ratched.
How about this for the 30th Anniversary ep : We find a world where Kirk was forced to take that desk job, and could not regain his ship. Bored to tears, he jumped at the chance to command a space station near a planet with an ancient civilization that Sarek recently initiated contact with. Though Scotty follows him, he is without most of his crew as he confronts a world as wary of the UFP as the Klingons that threaten Bajor. The only ones who seem to welcome him are the Cardassian traders, led by their representative, Gul Dukat. Ready to admit this wasn't the way out he wanted, Kirk prepares to return to the desk job he escaped, when met by odd beings who appear to him in the form of his late father, brother, and Spock. The first two tell him to bring a message to the Bajorans, and the Spock image tells him to take out the heart of the resistance by embracing it. With the help of the visiting crew from the DS9 we know, Kirk appoints the Chief Petitioner on the effort to oust the UFP, a Major Kira Nerys, as his First Officer.
I got another one. The Cardissians don't leave Bajor until 20 or so years after they did in our Trek universe. Sisko in this universe never met the prophets and never turned his life around and eventually killed himself. Jake is scarred by this and even though he joins starfleet becomes a loose canon. He is put in charge of Deep Space 19)formerly Terok Nor almost as punishment because Bajor is even in worst shape here than our universe with added extra 20 years of living under Cardi rule. Their planet isn't even habitable anymore and most Bajorans live on their moons and colonies. Jake meets the prohets and they help him overcome his dad's suicide and he become emissary. He is in charge of helping the bajorans Terrafrom their planet to become habitable someday. All this is easier with the discovery of the womrhole making them important. Molly O'brien is the stations chief engineer. A future Dax host is the stations doctor. Dukat's daughter who's half bajoran and whose name I forget is the stations first officer. Odo is in charge of the security. A old and bitter Quark runs the bar even though he is going senile. Naomi Wildman is the stations science officer. Jason
I'm through the old threads from the time I wasn't even on the forum, and I hope it's OK to resurrect this one which I find quite interesting. I'd watch that! It has most of my favorite DS9 characters. Seriously though - that would've been a great idea for a on-off AR episode.
DS9 is a former Bajoran space station in orbit of Cardassia. Gul Dukat is the station's commander with Sisko being his first officer and Starfleet liaison. Vedek (later Kai) Kira is the show's recurring villain and Elim Garak serves as DS9's chief of security. The Bajorans are a race of religious fundamentalists who are worshipping the Pah-Wraiths and who have occupied Cardassia for 50 years. On Bajor, Odo is considered to be the Emissary of the Pah-Wraiths which is why the Bajorans join the Dominion after Kira becomes Kai. Eventually, Odo decides to go up against his own people and leads a insurrection against the Dominion.
Something kind of like this actually happened in one of the alternate universes in the TNG episode Parallels.
Hey!! I've been writing that universe for months! Not exactly like Ensign Redshirt did, but it's there. I called it the Catacombs of Oralius universe, and yes--I did get the idea from "Parallels." On second thought - while such a series would be unthinkable in the Star Trek franchise, I can really imagine a hypothetical SF series based on this kind of concept and exactly the same characters! Of course, it would have to be produced in a parallel universe in which Star Trek: DS9 did not exist, or there was some other reasons that the creators and producers of that show would not be sued for ripping off Star Trek. But let's pretend for a moment that there was no DS9... I can see "Terok Nor" as a successful and critically acclaimed 21st century SciFi series - airing on HBO (or, alternatively, Showtime or FX). Think about it: after having successfully tackled many different genres, HBO decides show the SyFy channel how to do a darker, grittier, edgier, more morally ambiguous SF show, with more explicit sex (granted, there might be a bit of problem with Cardassian nudity, due to the amount of makeup required ), and a lot more violence. Lots and lots of violence. TV shows of this kind these days often centre around a 'do we love him, do we hate him, do we root for him or against him' Villain-Protagonist which would make Dukat the perfect lead, of the Tony Soprano/Vic Mackay kind. (Come to think of it, I can see quite a few similarities between him and Tony.) The show would oscillate between Grey and Gray Morality and occasional Black and Gray Morality. Gul Dar'heel would no doubt be completely frightening and chilling - scaring the heck out of the audience, and providing the Ralph Ciffaretto/Richie Aprile type of character, i.e. a collegue/rival who is also a Complete Monster, a total psycho who sets the bar for evil, and makes the lead character look good by comparison and helps the fans forget, at least for a certain amount of time, that the lead is also an utter bastard (fans: "hey, he is not such a bad guy...OK, he does [insert bad deeds] and he is [...] but he has good sides, he's smart and charming, and he loves his children!... and, he may be bad, but he is not as bad as that other guy!") The show would, of course, constantly manipulate the audience back and forth, by showing the lead in sympathetic light one moment, and then pushing the envelope more by showing him do worse and worse things, as if to ask 'so, you still think he's not such a bad guy?', but never slipping entirely into one or the other direction. The rest of the main characters would also be morally gray. Odo would be only really sympathetic and relatable character - fulfilling the Claudette, or rather Claudette+Dutch role - but this would also make him a controversial character, as fans could alternately see him as the noble, unbiased, and just, or as an indifferent person just going along with everything and not really giving a damn what happens outside of him doing his job. Quark - well, it's Quark, 'nuff said. No need to explain what the show could do with him; obviously, not lighthearted Ferengi comedy episodes. Damar's portrayal might oscillate between a lackey, a basically honest but misguided guy, and a loser with no self-esteem, but in this story, he probably wouldn't get a chance to become a hero, and more likely he'd just end up being Christopher Moltisanti, at best, or Ronnie Gardocki, at worst. And then of course there's Garak, who would still be the scene-stealing fascinating mysterious guy with great lines, only he'd be in every episode; but he writers would try to keep mysterious and ambiguous for the longest time possible, without turning him eventually into a good guy. His backstory (which could be the same one from 'A Stitch in Time') would be eventually revealed, but it would happen sparingly, in small does throughout the series, in order not to ruin the mystery. Kira, Shakaar and the other members of Bajorans resistance would be important recurring characters who'd get progressively more screentime; they would be somewhat like Heroic Antagonists; the show would make the audience empathize with them, by focusing on their plight, but would not avoid making them too sympathetic, by showing their hatred of Cardassians in general and their acts of terrorism, including those against Cardassian civilians (as seen in "The Darkness and the Light"). As I said, the theme of the show (and the fact that, in my scenario, it would be on cable) would allow opporunities for lots of explicit violence: the show would not shy away from graphically showing atrocities of Cardassians against the Bajorans, but also the Bajoran terrorist acts. People like Bareil, Opaka, Tekeny Ghemor or Natima Lang and others who represent some goodness in the mostly morally 'gray and grey' or 'black and gray' world of the show, would appear as recurring or one-time guest stars (maybe we'd get to see how Natima got involved with Quark). The other characters would consist of Bajoran slave-workers and victims; Bajoran collaborators - some of them ambiguous and with more or less understandable motivations, some of them downright despicable; Cardassian soldiers, other personnel and civilians, ranging from basically decent but going with the flow, to completly indifferent, to very prejudiced to Bajorans due to their upbringing, to cruel, despicable jerks. Among the important regular characters would also be Tora Naprem and Ziyal, as well as Dukat's wife and other children (and probably also Damar's wife and children). In order to have more female regular characters, there would be at least one prominent female character in the Cardassian station personnel. Basically, all the characters would be similar to what they were in DS9; the main difference is that there would be no noble Federation good guys anywhere in the main cast. When the Federation people do appear - ambassadors, negotiators, etc. - they are only minor characters, seen only in their interactions with the regulars. They are treated in a subtly ironic way, and tend to come off as ineffectual, or even hypocritical when they start to preach (particularly one of them who gives a lot of Picard-like speeches). In a word - it would be Anwar's worst nightmare, i.e. exctly what he mistakenly thinks DS9 already was, taken to a 10th degree.
You know they were gonna, though. If it's any consolation, few Cardassians would have been left to harm. Ouch, that even made me feel bad.
From the old "Pitch Terrible Ideas For Series" thread. Star Trek: Deep Mall One Deep Mall One: Situated on the Cardassian border, Deep Mall One is the Federation's first deep space shopping mall. Besieged on all sides by fashion faux pas, customer demands, and increasing lack of stores that aren't clothing stores, Commander Balding and his valiant crew must fight uphill to keep Deep Mall One operating properly. Shuttlecocks: Smaller than a runabout, but larger than a shuttlecraft, the station's 4 shuttlecocks are launched from it's "racket" sections. They serve as mini starships, as far as the plot is concerned. The Crew: Commander M.C. Balding Balding simply wants to ensure things run smoothly. He's an administrator... nothing more. He could care less for the troubles of Pakled traders or a Cardassian delegation. He's boring and a bit of a Herbert. Lt. Commander Muhammed Jihad Clearly an attempt by the writers to be culturally relevant. At every oppurtunity, he uses the phrase "my people" a lot and spouts off parables that actually don't come from the islamic faith at all and you can tell the writers totally pulled out of their asses. It basically gives the impression that the writers are a bunch of culturally insensitive gits. Lt. Alexandra Drake Chief of Operations. As quite the libertine, she's probably the only Starfleet officer on the show who'll appear not to have a stick up her ass. Think of her as a mix between 1970s Starbuck and Captain Jack Harkness, with a bit of Jack O'Neill thrown in for good measure, and you're pretty much there. Except with less penis. Technobabble McGuffin Science officer. An android built specifically for plot development purposes, McGuffin lacks any function except to spout off exposition and activate the main deflector. Constable Rexx Ahl An andorian private security enforcer, with a long career behind him. He is determined to maintain order within the mall. Rexx is suspicious of anyone and everyone, and jumps to insane conclusions, based on even the slightest hint. As such, he has arrested more innocent bystanders than can be counted. Ryan Goodweather Chief Shuttlecock pilot. The writers will soon forget he is capable of dialogue after Season One. Tovan A Romulan from the Men's Shoes Department at the Macys, Tovan is just a "Plain, Simple Sales Rep". However, he is really an exile from Romulus, though his past and motives are unclear. Roosevelt Mudd Lovable scoundrel and operator of Mudd's Venetian Record Company, he is constantly under the scrutiny of Rexx, but isn't actually comitting anything illegal. Despite that, most of the characters believe he is a slimy criminal. EPISODES 1x01 "Remodelling" - The crew sets up shop at Deep Mall One. Meanwhile, the Cardassians arrive, demanding to know why the Hot Topic is not yet open. We are introduced to alternating antagonist/competitive protagonist character, Gul Moran, played by Steven Segal. 1x02 "Cameo" - Geordi comes aboard DM1, but he is harbouring a deep secret. Which the crew soon discover is that he's secretly STILL A GIANT GLOWY LIZARD THING. And they have to like find a real for real cure this time. Oh, and for some reason, it's contagious. Meanwhile, Goodweather tries writing a book. 1x13 "The Knoll" - While en route back to DM1 from a conference on Beta Minor, a Shuttlecock piloted by Goodweather and Jihad crashlands on a strange, backwards planet. However, they soon learned they actually landed on Earth in Dallas, Texas on Friday, November 22, 1963. While in the past, they accidentally break Lee Harvey Oswald's hand, forcing them to take action to preserve the timeline. 2x14 "Threshold: A Pale Horse Pt. II" After escaping from the palace of the Threshold transwarp lizards on Nimbus III, Drake and Balding must find a way off the world and get help. Meanwhile, Deep Mall One is attacked by the Voth, who demand to know the location of the Threshold lizards, whom they consider to be their gods. The episode ends on yet another cliffhanger as Balding randomly climbs over the edge of a catwalk and hangs precariously by his umbrella. 3x24 "Cardassiflung" In this exciting season finale, the Voth use their quantum implosion device deep within Cardassian space, despite the best efforts of Gul Moran. The whole Cardassian Union is swept into subspace, Deep Mall One included. They are spat out in a distant galaxy ruled by expensive puppets and CG aliens. 4x04 "Reliant Robin" - The crew completes construction of a new custom-built warship, the USS Reliant Robin. And just in time too, Gul Moran is attacked by a Flooflummer Lornax-Class battlecruiser. They must test the Reliant Robin's BAMF cannons against the Flooflummer's doo-dazzlers. 4x24 "Iconianoclasts" - A group of Iconians comes to DM1, seeking political asylum. The moment Commander Balding grants it, a GIANT-ASS ICONIAN FLEET SHOWS UP. OMG, cliffhanger of the year, amirite? 8x47 "The Nutrageous Okona" - Okona is back. And this time he isn't just outrageous, he's nutrageous! Never mind that he was last seen in the Milky Way Galaxy.
I'm thinking of making a Youtube video - opening credits for "Terok Nor", but I have to come up with the song, and to complete the cast list. Who would you cast as Naprem? As Dukat's wife? We know so little about both of them that we have a lot of freedom to imagine them any way we like. Ideas?
