Beyond Teaser Trailer Analysis

I wonder if the Enterprise really does go down, seems somewhat of a big spoiler to give away in a trailer, might be anothers ships saucer section on the planet and with clever editing they have thrown us a red herring, and possibly the Enterprise is crippled in space, or captured and used to attack the federation.

Just a theory.

Nimoy didn't even know about it until he saw the trailer. He didn't understand the decision.

The ship's destruction is apparently part of the set-up for the film - it happens early. So yeah, reveal the set-up, why not?

Sofia Boutella seems to be the only one of her race in the teaser.
Is that her planet?

No. There is another one or more.

Most trailers are studio mandated from my understanding and have rules to follow depending on agreements with the theaters.

That could just as easily be Boutella or a stunt-person.
