Should I buy the TFA novel?

I enjoyed reading the prequel novelizations which were each released several weeks before the movie. I'd hoped to do the same with TFA, but I understand that Abrams and co. wouldn't want the whole plot available early. The novelization is available today, but written by Alan Dean Foster. Foster has the dubious distinction of writing the story for Star Trek: Where Nomad Has Gone Before. I also read The Approaching Storm, his novel that takes place just before AOtC, and thought it was pretty lame. I haven't read Splinter of the Mind's Eye, but it doesn't seem to be looked at very favorably, although that's in part because only A New Hope was in the cannon when it was written. Still, I remember reading that the characters in that book just don't feel like those in the movies and that it reads like a story about some people named Luke and Leia. I really see no reason to bother with The Force Awakens book. The movie just doesn't have as involved a plot as any of the prequels, so I can't imagine the book being all that fun to read. Is there anything that might make the book worth buying?

"Splinter of the Mind's Eye" had some, uh... interesting moments between Luke and Leia, at least in hindsight. :wtf:

Some fans felt that TFA left out some needed exposition. Perhaps the novelization fills in some of those details? That might be a good reason to read it.

That's why I'm pondering on buying the TFA novelization, maybe I can get more information about characters and post-ROTJ history. I was James Luceno had done the novelization. I think he's good about that kind of stuff.

I wouldn't expect the novelization to embellish too much on the events of the thirty years intervening ROTJ and TFA. I would expect at this stage Disney wants to keep the slate clean should Episodes 8 or 9 want to provide key revelations on certain origins. Also, some stuff has already been confirmed to be story material for original novels being released in 2016.
