At the time, people criticized the dune buggy chase in Nemesis. I guess if you have young and beautiful people playing Trek dress-up, then it's ok.

This trailer looks like it’s only mission is to make Star Trek look like mindless drivel such as your average Fast and Furious movie.

Mark my words Bob Orci’s film would have been 1000x better and had roles for William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. Instead we are going Star Trek for morons….I’m totally disgusted from looking at this trailer.

You bet, like I said some pages back, given that this will be the "Skyfall" for Trek movies, it'll be that Austin Martin moment all over again.

With maybe a little of "Bride of the Doctor" vibe, where they grab pieces of other ships and make the old girl space worthy again or something.

According to my calculations, taking into account Youtube comments, and such, there are approximately 11 Real and For True Star Trek fans in the world, and none of them are going to see the film, unless of course they are dragged there by well-meaning friends who will, of course, pay for the movie so their friend can give <awful latest film incarnation of Trek> a real chance.

They will not be moved, of course, because Real and For True Star Trek fans are well versed in Kolinahr. Now watch as they explain to you why, in precisely 11,247 words, you're a doody head for liking the film.

ST09 made about $365 million. STID made about $467 million. I expect this one will do pretty much the same, perhaps a little better, because it has Justin Lin's name on it, and the F&F movies make big money, especially overseas, where the two Trek films have increasingly done better overall.

There's nothing but wisecracks, FX and 'a' ship crashed in a quarry that is obvious in the trailer. But whilst the portents do not look good, it's a rush to judge the film on this one trailer alone. If you go through it with a fine tooth comb and freeze frame you will discern elements of this film that could very well give this film depth.

It'll win awards, the hollywood top dogs like congratulating themselves and they won't defy JJ nor all the kids who get a high from the FX. Or maybe it'll win awards for good reasons. Third time lucky and all of that.
