Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

I'm not expecting to get to much backstory on Kylo. I have a feeling any backstory info we get will be focused on the new heroes.

I think we may find out his parentage. Any further knowledge will probably be dropped in VIII and IX.

*smiling at the NerdNeedRage!

I would not mind some backstory on characters also, but I think, as was stated above, that they will either elaborate in further movies, or not at all, in favor of pacing and action!

What if the reason we don't see Luke in the trailers is because he's being played by Benedict Cumberbatch?

Eh? Eh?

And don't say J.J. Abrams would never do such a thing.

You know he would!

Hi everyone-

Sorry, but I really haven't been following any of the behind the scenes info at all. Can someone answer a question for me?

I see that while Abrams and Kasdan wrote Episode VII, they don't seem to be involved in the writing of Episodes VIII and IX. Do we know anything about how much interaction Abrams and Kasdan had with Rian Johnson and whoever else is working on VIII and IX? Did they all develop the overarching story arc for the trilogy together, or was the coordination much more loose than that?

For that matter, did Abrams and Kasdan just write what is essentially a standalone movie for Episode VII, put some kind of hook at the end of it, and then say to Johnson "You figure out what happens in the next movie"?

No details, that I am aware off, at least.

I would imagine that Kathleen Kennedy would be the one giving the marching orders as far as overall story and arcs that will be carried forward by Johnson and Episode 8.

Also, even if uncredited I would imagine Abrams would give Johnson plenty of tips. That's pretty common in Hollywood.

I'm pretty sure Abrams is still helping to produce the other movies, and I think Kennedy and others have also said that the broad strokes of the entire sequel trilogy have already been plotted out.

And I'd be very surprised if they hadn't been, especially considering they also have to make sure now that all the books and comics and other things don't overlap or use similar ideas.

And Kasdan is involved in other Star Wars projects going on, so I'm sure he was available to Johnson if he had any questions.

TK-102, why aren't your clothes on?

I like the Sequel Trilogy-era Biker Scout armor hanging in the back/off to the side. We have yet to see an Episode VII Biker Scout in action and we certainly haven't gotten an action figure of that armor, just a sort of Hasbro concept/Expanded Universe version of a First Order Stormtrooper in black armor. His figure pilots a Speeder Bike design that may or may not be in the actual film itself.
