Re: Michael Dorn Confirms that the new Trek Series is NOT "Captain Wor
Nice.
The Worf Holiday Special

The Worf Holiday Special
Now the irony would be if there is a John Cho Captain Sulu series!A Captain Worf series, like a Captain Sulu series, was never going to happen. Neither character was big enough to warrant building series around.

But yeah, I agree, there was never going to be a Takai Sulu series, let alone Captain Worf. I think at this point, the TNG cast, as well as DS9/VOY/ENT are cut off from Star Trek forever, unless it is in non-profit kick starter online fan films, or some bit part playing another character.
Which is a bloody shame.

They'd bite Patrick Stewart's hand off if he expressed interest in appearing as Picard in the new show
The others have probably had their day but I wouldn't be shocked to see a few old characters turn up from time to time.
Takei has more of a chance of getting a series than Dorn does.
It'd be interesting though how it would be played. Would he be wholly Starfleet or would he have to battle to keep his rather unStarfleet inner-Klingon in check. Even Sisko had to discipline him from time to time.
I personally disagree with that.
I'm guessing the first part is what you disagree with.
I'm with the OP. While I like Mr. Dorn quite a bit it's pretty obvious that George is more widely known to the general public.
The same was said back in 1986/87 and look what happened.I just don't see how the Network would be interested in making a show about a character that is not Captain Kirk, Spock, or Picard.

New and unfamiliar doesn't automatically equate with bad or impossible.
I don't see how that's a distinction. You said the network wouldn't want a show about a TOS or TNG headliner, and now you're saying TNG's debut was different from this new show's because it was new. This new show may very well be... new... too.
And TNG was definitely a roaring success with casual TV viewers. The fans alone could never have propelled it to the numbers it was averaging at its peak.
