If you KNOW about the new series...

Bostonians on the board will understand this:
We need the Howie Carr Voice-Changer for anyone who would like to snitch about the new show here.
They will have COMPLETE anonymity. ;)

The brand-new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.
Translation (maybe) ...

Not the same old characters (Kirk, Spock, Picard, etc.).
Not the same old worlds (Earth, Vulcan, various previously seen homeworlds).
Not the same old civilizations (Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Borg, etc.).

Sounds good so far, if true.

This was also part of the starting orders for TNG, if I remember by Companion correctly; make the show different. Shed the baggage that comes with setting a show in an established universe. DS9, Voyager, and even ENT didn't have this luxury because so much had been established already about what was happening elsewhere or what would happen later in the timeline. The new show has an opportunity for a blank slate, and I hope they take it!

However, one of the problems with Enterprise was that they DIDN'T follow what had been previously established.

They just ignored a lot of what came before and decided to do their own thing.

Established history and events doesn't have to be baggage that weighs a story down. Instead they can be tools to tell a convincing story. They can be aids in creating art.

I got a PM from a source that I trust but I can't reveal. There will be a reoccurring tribble "character". It's a pet and more or less the comedic relief.
Hmmm... my source says that it's actually a different tribble every episode, and each gets eaten by someone or something by the end. Usually this guy.

(Warning: that link may not be work safe. But in a very, very odd way. :D )

This was written by a PR-Intern at CBS before lunch. It's pretty meaningless.
