European vacation questions

Does anyone know anything about a UK village called Long Compton? We are thinking of staying there.
 
Norwich (silent W) and Ely are not mentioned much as East Anglian tourist destinations, but they--and their cathedrals--are quite lovely. (Or at least they were when I was there two decades ago.)
 
I liked the short trip a friend and I made out to Runnymede while I was living in London.

Also at my first trip (and I thought I live in a big city, but 530.000 citizens is nothing compared to the millions in London) I found the noise overwhelming. Announcements over speakers all the time (next station, mind the gap, closed stations for reconstruction etc.) and also in the tunnels people who make loud music at certain designated places.

Aside from the tube there is the Docklands light rail. Though it all depends on where and what you want to see in the Capital.

Not familiar with that exact village, but it's probably quite pleasant. Kestra and I stayed for a few days near Chipping Campden, which isn't far away.
 
We will see all the touristy stuff in London but don't plan on hanging out there too long. We are going to the UK to try out the classic English country vibe.
 
I remember the giant hovercraft ferry service crossing the Channel, but I understand they are all gone? Is there a more scenic way to cross the Channel than being stuck in the tunnel?
 
Well aside from the Chunnel you can fly or take the Ferry, none of which I would class a rather scenic unless you want to see the white cliffs of dover in that case take the Ferry.
 
European Vacation sucked! The only good ones were the origianal Vacation and Christmas Vacation!

Lived in the UK 3 years, late-80s.., Suffolk does have some fantastic unspoiled villages, with fantastic views and traditional pubs..

I loved my time in the UK..simply too much to see for such a small place (compared to the USA that is) I lived in Hadleigh on the High Street in a flat above an insurance brokerage...best time I ever had in the USAF was there...
 
RAF Bentwaters...1985-1988... went all over Europe, even to the GDR and Communist Hungary...
