The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

That is one of the most awesome pics I've seen posted all day. Well done.

In other news, I scored the 6" Black Series Poe Dameron from Wave 2 of the new figures from The Force Awakens, all thanks to some helpful employees at a local Gamestop!

nice find. i haven't seen anything from Wave 2. heck, most of my local stores have yet to restock since everything was released.

Neither have most of my local stores (except for a couple of restocks of Wave 1 resulting in pegwarming Chewbaccas and Finns), but Gamestop is quickly becoming a great place to look for certain 3.75" and 6" figures that the big box chains either won't restock or won't bother to carry in the first place. They charge $3 more for a 6-inch Black Series figure than the big box stores, but that beats not finding some of them at all.

Thanks, man!

I have put some of them up here. Most are over at AFI. Right now my collection is boxed due to space limitations, but I am trying to reclaim my display space from my wife.

CCC.
Good luck with the reclaiming! I'm not a wife but I am of the opinion that everyone should have a little fun in their life. Otherwise it would only consist of working and sleeping, and that's not enough.

What is AFI?

Ever wondered what happened to the Gorn after Arena? Well it looks like he found love in a galaxy far far away... A prequel to my Gorn family picture from last year, this time I found a Momma Bossk to go with my Daddy Gorn. Yay for Star Wars Black!

That Gorn picture is very funny indeed!

Well, today is Back to the Future day! So here are some pics of Marty McFly I was able to snatch before giving him to my brother.

got this today. Figuarts Mystic Gohan (the box says Ultimate but whatever). Gohan is my favorite DBZ character. he's really nice.

First the obligatory happy BTTF day everyone!

Here's the before shot. ;)

Also some stuff from yesterday I didn't have a chance to post. I randomly came across this beautiful painting at one of my local goodwill stores. It will make a great backdrop for my Luigi house. :D

Great hauls everyone! While the DBZ figure may not be my style, it still looks very good. And good backgrounds are as much important as good figures.

As I said, I have become a sanctuary for figures. This Halo Master Chief was given to me because it had a broken wrist which I fixed. He is a bit small though, but still fun:

My newest American Girl doll is a Mets fan! Emma Louise "borrowed" Julie's jeans and Hello Kitty's Mets shirt. I finished the look with Mets Mardi Gras beads!

I bought this great Christmas "baking" set because it was 50% off.

For a toy, everything is incredibly detailed.

I especially liked the icing bag and sprinkles (they don't open).

I made a necklace to go with the set:

Found it, thanks! Oh my, another page to check out...

That baking set is the cutest thing ever! Just adorable. Can't wait to see it in action. Will the apron and hat fit her?

I am taking part in a monthly contest in a 1:6 scale group, where we do pictures for a certain theme. Last month I made second place with this picture of the tenth Doctor for the theme "Books". The quote is from an episode:

This month the theme is "Noir". I called my picture "Prayer".
The figure is originally a blond Dragon Jamie (Classic Adam). I painted his hair and re-dressed him to look like Ianto from "Torchwood". However, in this picture it is not necessarily meant to be Ianto, just anyone who is in need for a prayer.

That photo of the Doctor was so realistic that for the first couple of moments I thought it was an actual photograph of David Tennant. Congrats on your high-ranking finish in the contest! That looks impressive and I can see why they liked it! :techman:

Got this set of rare Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon figures. Just had to have it as it's one of my favorite games of all time.

My new DST Star Trek Select sets also came in. I love that engineering console. I've been remodeling my diorama space and made something akin to Season 1 engineering. Replicating the classic trek lighting was the fun part :D

That looks cool! Yeah, I'd say you did a pretty fair job of duplicating the lighting on the main engineering set of TOS. It looks pretty convincing!

The lighting technician sure loved using reds and purples. I'd love to attept Kirk's quarters one of these days. I'm looking for fabric similar to that used in TOS.

That was quick! And it looks so, so awesome! One could really think it is a picture from the show. Well done!
I keep wondering if we should buy more than one, to make it a longer row? It is a bit short and hard to photograph properly.

Thank you! A picture can only be as good as the figure though, and I think Big Chief Studios do a wonderful job there. Just yesterday I ordered their Ninth Doctor, they get better with each figure. Can't wait for when they'll do a Jack Harkness.

Guys, celebrate with me, I have an avatar! And I'm not even at 50 posts yet! Someone must have taken pity on me and changed something.

Unless you just want it to be fabric, you could recreate the pattern on the computer using Paint and print on card stock, then use a little foam core inside for structure.

Sure was. I seem to be lucky with the mail service. It came just days after I ordered it.

I also have that same mini shopping cart as you. As for the Console, it does seem small but I wish the floor was so chopped up looking. It should have been flat and square.

Good idea. I shall do just that. :techman:

That's actually a good idea. That way the only light you'd need would be if you want to highlight the figures, and if the backdrop has the appropriate colors then you can just use a plain light bulb for overhead illumination of the diorama. It would still look like the original TOS sets.
