Gotta admit, I haven't seen this one all the way through in a very long time because whenever I do a rewatch, I tend to fast-forward the episode. Honestly, I just don't care for these types of Star Trek episodes where the heroic crew end up on a planet dominated by an oppressive government while an underground movement of freedom fighters works in the shadows.

There's just something very familiar about the whole thing. It feels like a stock episode that they wheel out whenever they've run out of ideas. An episode that you've probably seen on TNG or DS9 or Enterprise a million times before. Just very formulaic and forgettable. Captured crew, a tyrannical government, a friendly local... just, you know... meh.

I'm not in the best position to judge it. Your review seems to suggest that it's better than I remember but honestly, it just never grabs me. Next rewatch, I'll try and give it a chance but I suspect I made the decision to fast-forward on my previous viewings for a very good reason.

This is an episode that I always forget about. I don't think it was a 'bad' episode but for some reason it just doesn't stand out to me. I'm just always surprised when it shows up during a re-watch. Oh yeah..that one.

And can we please give the old 'sex as a weapon' or 'means of distraction' trope a rest for a while? Its not a bad idea, just so overdone.

Sometimes when I'm bored I look up the promos on youtube just to point and laugh.

I've often wondered if they had us geeks do the video work if the show would have had stronger numbers. Those bumpers, whatever they are called, were painful!

I only remember that Janeway spent an hour with the guy who convinced JR Ewing to shoot himself in the series finale of Dallas. Having only seen this episode once that's all I took from it so it probably wasn't one of my faves.

Yeah they can get tiresome... although I just watched Critical Care which was pretty much the same thing with the doctor and I really liked it. As for this thread's episode Resistance, I didn't find it very memorable and it was just kinda hard to get through on my rewatch.

A very good episode.

The main character in this episode is Caylem, a tragic figure who it's easy to identify with and feel sorry for. The whole story is well-written, exciting and thoughtful as well.

I'll give it 4 points out of 5
