I'm not entirely sure I understand the tactic of trying to rattle Lackey with asking to have the ball checked. The ball wouldn't be the problem, considering they go through about a hundred per game.
Like, I get trying to make Lackey angry and whatnot, but that was a silly move by Maddon.
Edit: Although now that he pulled it, I would not be shocked to see beanballs flying in the near future.
Edit 2: Hammel out after 3 with awful control the whole time, Grimm is in. I guess Maddon wants to win the series in Chicago knowing that going back to St. Louis is a death sentence. Except with Grimm...

So, bottom of the Seventh and the Royals are down by several runs and I'm ready to write them off. Astros win the series 3-2.
Then the Royals manage to rally with a 5-run 8th and hold onto their lead, even getting 2 more runs in the 9th. Color be stunned and surprised. Hope we can take the series Wednesday and move on.

Damn. Cahill was cruising along in this series. Tied 4-4 now, but could have been worse if not for Soler cutting down what would've been the Cards 5th run.
Rizzo unties the game. 5-4 Cubs.
Schwarber goes OVER the right field scoreboard. 6-4 Cubs.
I can't believe they went with the squeeze play again. A leadoff triple by Bryant wasted.

The baseball rulebook twitter was saying Lackey was going to his mouth and touching the ball without wiping his hand off first. Once is a warning twice is a bbye, they said.

So, for the NLCS, do the Cubs get home field advantage based on their better record, or does home field go to one of the division winners?

I think it goes to a division winner. So the Cubs would go to either Citi or Dodger Stadium.

Correct. Manfred is not opposed to the idea of re-seeding the playoffs following the wild card and division series but it's not going to happen in the near future.

I look at the title of this thread and the little ("No") next to it and I can't help but smirk just a tad. Can I get a little benefit for the forum if the Cubs do win the world series, like a peak into the Briefing Room for the day or free premium membership?

Schwarber's HR on Monday officially went 438'. It landed on top of the RF videoboard and the Cubs are leaving it up there for the rest of the playoffs.
Maybe Hoss sends more baseballs up there to keep it company.
