Time traveling

Actually, just about all of the time travel stories in all of the Treks are among my favorites.

Actually, just about all of the time travel stories in all of the Treks are among my favorites.

I like most of them, but not all. TNG's time squared didn't do much for me. Neither did VOY's "time and again". And Fury I dislike thoroughly, but not because of the time travel element.

My main problem with time travel is that they use it too much.

As opposed to, say, alien viruses or Klingon politics or Prime Directive debates or diplomatic missions or holodeck malfunctions or god-like beings or berserk computers or any number of other STAR TREK staples?

Just off the top of my head, only four out of the original 79 episodes were time-travel eps. That's what? Only 5% of TOS?

If we're talking movies, it's three out of twelve.

And if we're talking the latter-day series, I'm too lazy to add them all up, but we're probably talking a dozen or so episodes out of hundreds of hours of Star Trek shows.

For a science-fiction show, that doesn't strike me as too much.

But the first one the time-travel element wasn't really a core element of the episode. So as Greg says 4 episode of TOS dealt with time travel

Would the time-looping episodes be considered part of the list of time travel ones? I'm thinking of the one where the Enterprise D keeps getting destroyed again and again. I'm drawing a blank on the title at the moment. Also was TNG the only one that had an episode about time loops?

Yeah, I skipped "The Naked Time" because the time-travel bit is just kinda tacked on at the end and really has nothing to do with the main plot of the episode.

There's also Time Squared which is a really similar premise.
