OK one of those rare episodes where I cringed almost all the way through. And that last bit at the end arrrrrgh... Moon hatching .. Ugh!!!!!

But oddly enough a friend of mine took this photo earlier today and it looks weird. Was there some kind of planetary alignment today? See for yourself..

I really did not like that episode.

This morning when the moon appeared as a thin crescent and there was a bright object lined up between the points, I think it was Venus. It reminded me of the flag of Turkey.

This episode started out with so much promise. The intensity, location, and atmosphere all good. But, then it sucked horribly bad. Just awful. Yes, DW plays loose with some science elements but these are generally things that are unfamiliar to the audience. But, when you have a known physical entity that we're all familiar with, like the moon, it really takes you out of the story when you contradict known facts.

Not to mention the newly hatched space dragon can lay another egg "Moon" that's exactly the same size as the original.

I tend to agree, started out good but had a poor ending. Not one that I would re-watch that often.

I've softened a bit on Kill the Moon after a rewatch recently.
Was able to focus more on the drama which is the core of the episode, instead of the jarring disregard for well established real world science.
It still sticks out somewhat and could have been dealt with by rewriting a few lines of dialog.

The Moon could have started to contract and wobble and lose orbit as a result of the space dragon's birthing process to explain all the gravitational effects seen in the episode.

The only thing I can not over is the dragon laying an entirely new moon egg out of nothing seconds after its birth. This is pure magic.

The forrest episode is the real skippable episode in season 8.

The speaker of the house is the third in line for the presidency, which would leapfrog over maybe the rule for disqualifying foreigners from the post? Considering the moon is blowing up and smashing into the planet, it's more than likely that there was been a few unexpected successions since this global natural disaster began that an English Woman can be President of the United States.

When our Moon was breaking up, and chunks were slamming Earth... Why wasn't Earth manifesting Forests to deflect those collisions?

I like this episode if only for the scene towards the end where Jenna cries and flips out on the Doctor.

"You walk our earth, Doctor, you breathe our air. You make us your friend, and that is your moon too, and you can damn well help us when we need it!"

And I liked how that line was reflected in "Forest" by the Doctor.

I rewatched both Moon and Forest episodes recently. I like the Moon one somewhat better now. I see where they were trying to go with it. Maybe it needed another draft before going to production. Forest was still weird.

It's odd, series 8 was not great overall, but two of my favorite episodes are in it: "Listen" and "Flatline"

Did the Doctor actually mention here that he is a 4 dimensional being?

If what he said in the Fires of Pompeii, or his corpse are anything to go by.

His corpse from Name of the Doctor, I suppose. You know, the big, glowing, knotted ball of timelines.
