More nice backstory to enrich the fabric of this purely guilty pleasure. Bravo.
I like how this show saves money on showing a city that's falling apart - by not doing it. There is traffic on the roads, people still go to work, liquor stores and bars are operating... Meanwhile prisons are abandoned. I didn't even see a mention of an enforced curfew throughout NYC...
One thing to consider is that the long view might be preventing a blitzkrieg takeover right now, what with the two factions and the silver tome.
I thought the last episodes were pretty good. I did really like getting Eichorsts back story, and we got some pretty scary stuff when he was holding Dutch captive.
Last night's episode felt like mostly set up, but I did like getting like getting Gus away from the Guptas and back moving forward with his work for Quinlan. I didn't mind the Guptas, but I do think that stuff was dragged out for more episodes than were really necessary.
I'm glad they appear to be heading towards getting Fet and Dutch back together, I really liked them as a couple.
I do agree that it is a little weird that we are seeing so few signs of the apocalypse while the characters are out and about. They might be mostly in the areas that have been cleared by the Feraldo and her people, so I guess that could be an explanation.
I was hoping we'd be getting more of The Master now that he was in Bolivar's body, but he's still been most talked about and not seen.
I was double checking some of the names of characters on Wikipedia, and I saw that Doug Jones is one of the Ancients. I didn't realize he was involved with this, but it's not a surprise since he's pretty much a regular in GTD's stuff.

Since this is different from the Walking Dead's simultaneous Zombie Apocalypse...why have't the Army or NAtional Guard been called (other than due to budget)?
I do like our semi-human villains...very well acted, and love they are plotting against each other.

Season finale aka Zack you little shit! Usually I don't hate on kids in shows like this like a lot of people do but I really cannot stand this little punk. He is just not likable at all.
^I don't disagree, but in fairness I think it's a fault with the writing, not the actor. Just about all his scenes are about how he's being an impediment in one way or another. He's rarely given anything to do other than be obstinate and wander off. The few times he's actually been interesting is when he's interacting with Setrakian, who actually treats him like a person while everyone else behaves like his babysitter around him, even Dutch for the most part.
He's basically Carl from the first few seasons of 'The Walking Dead', before he was allowed to be his own character.

Pretty good last few episodes of the season. I'll agree that business picked up. I'll also say that the story itself feels bogged down by the need to last 4 or 5 seasons. I find it very difficult to believe that the army isn't sending a million soldiers into NYC, shining UV lights into literally every single nook and crany.
Can't wait to see what happens next season. Though I have a strong suspicion that it will involve our gang of heores chasing after the master, and ultimately coming away empty handed yet again. Oh boy. I'll bet the first 6 episodes will be Setrakian trying to decipher the book. Fascinating.

Finished the second season. I was hoping the apocalypse would have taken shape much more than it actually did. It's somewhat ridiculous for New York to be overrun by vampires but for people to treat it like it's just a flu-like problem. Surely the entire world (not just the US) would be significantly more stunned by these events and supply everything necessary to deal with it.
Instead, we have some local politicians who need money from the east side residents to deal with the problem as well as the strange dichotomy of people being chased down the streets by vampires on Monday night then back to working in their office on Tuesday morning. What?
That being said, I am enjoying it. It's easier to watch in bulk rather than week to week and there's definitely something very satisfying about it. Dare I say, it reminded me of Buffy a little - a gang with a cool headquarters who venture out to fight the baddies while the patriarch needs to go find a magic book that will help them. I dunno; maybe I just miss Buffy but I definitely see some parallels.
The kid is annoying and needs to piss off but that's the point of kids in shows like this (this shows Dawn?). As a Brit, I'm intrigued by the amount of faces I recognise from British telly and was amazed when Jay's dad from the Inbetweeners turned up with the magic book. WTF! It's Jay's dad!?
I hope season three steps up the apocalypse and we get even deeper into a scenario where New York is quarantined and the gang start to create a safe zone that they run or something. Will be interested to see what happens.

This show isn't very good, yet I can't stop watching it! I've read the books and it is interesting that they're diverting from the story in quite radical ways now
The pacing is glacial though, and if they're planning to do what they do in the books they really need to get a move on, I'm not sure we've reached the halfway point of the second book yet.
That said I'm not sure they're going down that route, it is ludicrous that New York appears to be overrun yet functioning as normal at the same time.
