Anyway yeah the Shadowbolts were all good. Just wish we had got more of them. Sour Sweet has some serious BPD going on, she needs to get that looked at.

I thought they were going to use Indigo and Sugarcoat more, Lemon was mainly there to be their Pinkie. Sunny Flare literally did nothing the entire movie.

They couldn't even figure out how to make her a Rarity counterpart so they didn't bother doing anything with her.

Sunset's final form is called "Daydream Shimmer" as a counterpart to Midnight Sparkle.

Also, was anyone really surprised regarding Pinkie Pie and the results of the baking contest? That scene still has me rolling. Don't mess with the master!

I just finished watching myself. I was way behind on Ponies. I hadn't even started season five. So a marathoned all day and got caught up. And then watch the film.

I actually think it's my favorite EQG to date. I loved the tone, and there were some real laugh out loud moments.

and I also think it's heading into spinoff territory, which if it did I would be most pleased. Could you imagine getting two types of pony every week? Couldya! Couldja couldja couldja? Yes! *squee*

While it's nice to think about, I would bet if they do spin-off it will be an alternating season thing. Otherwise it's a lot of work for the gals, especially Ball and Libman. The bigger paychecks might be nice at first, but I can see where they'd get burnt out really quickly.

Along those same lines, um... did anyone look at Sunset Shimmer all magicked up and think she was uncomfortably pretty? By that I mean very attractive? Anyone? I mean, you know... not that I thought that... because she's a cartoon obviously... um... but that she was ridiculously hot with all that glowy power behind her? Um, yeah.

The events themselves were okay, although I found it odd to have a Motocross event. That seems a little dangerous for high school, don't you think? I mean, archery makes sense, speed skating makes sense, baking, intelligence, things like that all make sense, but Motocross?

I thought that was weird too. Though I guess they figured it was more exciting than the traditional track and field stuff.

I adore Sugarcoat, who sugar coats nothing.

OMG I loved her! At first it didn't click because I sort of spaced on her name. And then, after what she said to Twilight after getting off the bus, the lightbulb turned on and I started rolling.

Principal Cinch reminded me of Ursula from The Little Mermaid, for some reason.

Me too. Or really I thought she was meant as more of a pastiche of all the Disney villainesses (Ursula, Cruella, Snow White witch, etc.). Maybe mixed with a little Umbrage.

It was! I'm currently in the middle of jury duty, so it was a nice way to spend a Sunday and have to think about things.

I would hug AJ and probably not let go. See, this would be my problem if I landed in Equestria. Personal space would be a thing of the past, and Celestia herself would have to tell me to stop hugging ponies without their permission, and most assuredly that I should stop rubbing pony bellies, again, without their permission.

I would solve this, of course, by hugging Celestia. Yeah, I'd take the risk of being banished to the Moon.

I thought royal edict kept you 5 miles from any magical portals. Something about a certain sun affiliated royalty...and a riding crop...

...as for Sci-Twi: It was when she whispered, "I can smell your shampoo...it smells nice" that AJ got really creeped out. There's a dozen horror-fics can could be wrote about Sci-Twi from that one screencap

I don't remember a riding crop....

I get the feeling this Twilight didn't even have the Unicorn group that Pony Twilight had, and has been devoid of any attention most of her life. Her parents in this universe just shipped them off to prep school.

That's what was sweet. She saw these students she had never met showing her kindness, not for any gain, but because they felt she was worth kindness and honesty. It was one of the sweetest moments of the film, IMO. Plus, I know exactly how she feels regarding that love and friendship starvation.

Exactly. Applejack knew exactly how to receive it. That's the great thing about honesty; she understood the honest need for a connection.

Now that I'm digging into this movie, I'm already loving it even more. At this rate, it may overtake Rainbow Rocks as my favorite film.

Just watched the movie again today, and yeah, that hug just hits right at home. It may be my second favorite moment in the film (after what happens near the very end being first).

You could cut out the magic part of the story, and just have it be about Sci-Twi and her coming to terms with the ideal of friendship and not always been the best of the best; that's it's okay to be normal---to use a phrase. It'd still be a good movie.

Very true, and I think making it that relatable will reach a lot of young people.

One thing I did notice, watching it the second time, is SciTwi is left handed. I'll have to see if PonyTwi is different in previous movies.

I do love how our Twilight when she came through was still doing that hoof thing with her fists.

And someone did a comparison of the shot, she's slightly taller than SciTwi. Not sure if that's the Alicorn thing or the other Twilight is just smaller anyway, since she's shorter than Shimmer but taller than AJ in most shots.
