other ways to have brought back Spock?

was thinking of time travel - Trek III couldve been like an 'undoing' of the events of the previous film in order to get Spock back e.g. maybe if there had been no 'remember' or Spock coffin on genesis (as was originally planned – I believe those scenes were late additions) so III would be hijacking the Enterprise to time warp around the sun to save spock but on the way they encounter the klingons who are after genesis so proceeds with similar events but done abit different - david death, ent destruction, genesis blows up etc (all without young Spock) but for the conclusion/last half hour instead of vulcan/katra swap they use the captured BOP to go around the sun and end up toward the end of TWOK (like the 1955 scenes of BTTF2 & the 1984 part of Terminator Genisys) cloaking device on, beam aboard the Ent and encounter their slightly younger selves and they have to try to prevent Spocks death (Kirk and Co sneaking around like Trials and Tribulations, & like Picard/Kirk in Generations redoing the end of GEN), without interfering in TWOK events too much (although maybe Trek III Kirk couldve encountered Khan face to face this time - Montalban cameo), before succeeding in getting the mains back on line before Spock can sacrifice himself and then returning to their own time, and everythings fine and everyones alive again (like the end of BTTF/XM DOFP/Superman/MOTU etc) - spocks alive and well, Davids alive, the NCC 1701 Ent is ok and has its decommission ceremony..

The synopsis of "ST III: Return to Genesis" suggested that Spock would appear in mirrors like a vampiric apparition, and that, perhaps, his essence might live on in Saavik.

Of course, that was before anyone had worked out what ST II's "Remember..." mind meld with McCoy would mean.

Ah Yes the Obi Wan style Spock thing. I guess whenever Kirk needed advice hed have consulted force ghost Spock in his quarters :D

Have the Klingons replaced with Romulans (I remember reading they were supposed to be the baddies, hence 'Bird-of-Prey'), with the ship commanded by the Female Commander from TOS. She sampled Spock's DNA and cloned him, living her ideal life with him, though his original memories resurfaced and he desired to return to Starfleet.

sounds like Nemesis. Spocks cloned/readied to take place of real Spock before the plan was discarded..

I was thinking more she created him for more selfish reasons, to be the man she fell in love with but couldn't have.

In the comic book series, the Mirror Universe Spock, the bearded one, stood in for him awhile, and helped the original Spock regain his mind. I don't remember the details.

So, the movie series could've imported Spock-2 and given him a shave. Wouldn't have worked as well, though.

As it was, I didn't really have a big problem with how they brought Spock back (this is science fiction) and while that might have appeared to have "cheapened" his death in TWOK, I feel like the writers balanced his resurrection with other important and unsalvageable losses for Kirk and the Enterprise crew- David's death and the Enterprise's destruction. Plus, as far as Kirk and crew knew at the time, their careers in Starfleet were over and they were facing some serious jail time for their actions.

I prefer the way they went. And the add-on "Remember..." scene in ST2 isn't even really needed. Without it, the discovery in ST3 of it having happened while we the audience were watching something else would have worked just fine. If anything, it'd have more impact.

There is still a giant Spock clone out there. [TAS, "The Infinite Vulcan"]
IF the female Romulan Commander was looking for some sexual good times with the forty foot tall Spock clone, that would have been a real interesting movie.

(ouch)

They could've had him stepping out of his sonic shower as if nothing had happened.....

Spock should be brought back to answer for his crimes of concealing the Romulans true identity ideally before it ever happens through time travel.

Maybe make Trek III a Mirror Universe story in order to get the other Spock into the storyline. At some point, he mind melds with McCoy and now has all the memories and experiences of both Spocks. At the end, he realizes he has no place in the barbaric mirror universe and stays.
That being said, I've always thought that the middle film should have been an independent story without Spock, possibly ending with the Enterprises' destruction, and the last film in the trilogy should have ended with Spock's recovery and a new Excelsior Enterprise.
Maybe when they remake it all in a few years. :)
