star trek enterprise certainly is nowhere near as bad as some people say it is. The series is a prequel to the original series, but seeing as im watching all live action star trek media chronilogically, you need some kind of knowledge of the original series and other past star trek shows to understand certain things they bring up, for example one vulcan who's name i dont remember says "live long and prosper" and then an orchestral melody plays, no other noob is gonna get that.
The characters are likeable enough, you have Scott Bakula who you may remember from quantum leap, cats dont dance, men of a certain age, and that csi show that i dont know the name of, as captain jonathan Archer, hes very knowledgable and nice but he kind be a dweeb at times, he also has a beagle named 'porthos', as someone who has a beagle as well with a bad heart, it'll pain me to see porthos in any danger at all.
Theres T'Pol, she's your vulcan for the show, which speaks for itself,. And theres Dr. Phlox who unlike Dr. Mccoy he is very cheery and smiley, hes an alien which again i forgot the name of.Theres other characters too, but they aren't interesting enough to write about.
the episode plots have your usual run of the mill 'explore a planet, fight bad guys, and save the day' routine but more often than not is overshadowed by scenes where they're in the mess hall eating, and talking about sports, sex lives, movies, etc.. etc..., which isnt bad but, i dont care about your sex lives, I WANT ALIENS DAMMIT!!, also who's idea was to use the 'prison shower' color palette for the enterprise nx-01, the ship looks very depressing and sterile, whoever came up with that color palette needs a trip to a prison shower if you know what i mean, to be fair though within the show the ship is basically a prototype, i like the basic shape of the ship though.
A recurring theme in this season is a 'temporal cold war' which is highly talked about and referenced in the season finale 'shockwave part I' and they had the audacity to end on part 1 of a two-parter. One last thing i'd like to add is the theme song is godawful i think i got type 9 diabetes from hearing it, its a syrupy "i believe in myself" type song, granted firefly had a country western theme going but it was good, i had to skip through the intro to enterprise too many times. But all in all though its not a bad show, i give this season a high:
3 out of 5
Best episode of the bunch: Vox Sola (and even THAT episode couldve used some improvement)
and dont just say 'good review' just because you agree with it
ill see you next time on the enterprise forum where ill review season 2
