Also an honourably lousy exception at times, the Hollow Crown only got a Blu release years after everyone relented and bought the DVD.

With the upcoming full scale war between the Beeb and the Tories likely to lead to a massive reduction in the size and scope of the BBC, I'd be surprised if they punt on anything.

BBC Worldwide is getting privatised too. Watch this space...

    ... For further disappointment.

Indeed, I genuinely fear for the BBC at the minute.

It is actually pretty shocking, when the BBC is so admired and respected worldwide how eager some of our beloved government are to rip it to shreds.

^Not to put too fine a point on it, but your "beloved government" has been dying of the same corporatist virus ours has since Thatcher.

Personally, I'd be glad to see the back of the BBC if it were to happen. It's been nothing more than a socialist propaganda machine for the Labour party for decades, which is exactly why the Conservatives want to slash its funding. The BBC has made a rod for its own back, and it had this coming.

On a non political note, for those of us in the UK and who have SyFy, a complete DS9 rerun starts in HD next Monday at 6pm. With TNG on at 7pm, that's me sorted for 2 hours weekday nights for the next 7 months, especially with autumn coming and hibernation on the horizon.

Well shucks, just record DS9 in HD and send all of us copies. Then we can end these threads. :p

The channel is in HD. The show will not be in HD.

    This.

TNG runs on an HD channel (BBC America) here in the States. The prints they are using for seasons three through seven are decidedly not HD.

I think I've become an HD snob where Star Trek is concerned. I use to watch TOS and TNG through the interference on stations as far away as Louisville, Ky.

Now? It's HD or it's get the fuck out. Can't remember the last time I dusted off my DS9, VOY or ENT DVD's.

Me too. I have even been considering getting the DVDs out of my cabinet by passing them down to my son. I'm not in a rush to do that because I've had them so long, but I don't really see me watching them again.
