Sniper rifles in multiplayer combat video games

The Ice Breaker was actually the perfect compliment for my Hunter. The IB's regenerative ammo, combined with the Hunter's camouflage perk made it come in really handy in boss fights...especially against Prison of Elders....lots of times, I'll be the one landing the killing blow on the PoE bosses. :)

I'm working up the camouflage perk for the P&T to compliment my Titan.

Sounds like we should be having this aspect of discussion in the Destiny-Let's Roll thread. :D

The camping issue (and to some degree, the snipers) have been dealt with in current games where, when you die, you are shown the location of your killer. (That generally should discourage camping.) However....see below. \/

Yeah, WarThunder is like that, although some would say, the whole point of the game is sniping, with a tank no less. The kill cam in that game is beautifully executed, and the ammunition does take time to reload.

America's Army is meant as a recruitment tool for the US Army, so i take it it's a bit more accurate with how the weapons handle, including the sniper rifle...
IIRC one of the previous versions had you go to virtual bootcamp...

Problem with the kill cam is that it makes it way too easy for the other guy to just grab a ground attacker and bomb the shit out of the tank. Preferably kamikaze style.

Kill cam's do, at least in theory, help to prevent one from overly dominating the game, and allow all to enjoy it, and get their kills in. (Granted, it's not real-life, just like the sniper rifles in video games).

Besides, the smart player who has just scored the kill is not going to stay in the same spot, even after the kill cam reveals where he/she is.

True, but at least it encourages everyone to move around to avoid being hit. When that happens, I usually try to scramble. The added benefit is that those bombs do affect your own team as well if you're not careful enough, so it's not like they don't have adverse effects.
