The ugliness of the 4-foot Enterprise model, for starters. Rough edges, shiny decals, cracks, excess plaster or whatever it was that it's made of.

Notice the large crack that runs from the neck almost to the pylon, and the rough lines where the pylon meets the nacelle:

Probbly old news to some but I only noticed watching Unification II today that you can see Battlestar Galactica orbiting Qualor II:

That doesn't look like the Galactica to me. However, the ship at the center of that shot is the Excelsior study model.

Yeah, looks more like a sorta-runabout.

I'm pretty sure it's the test ship that rode the soliton wave in... whatever that episode was called. Not totally sure, but it may have been the "Mars defence perimeter" ships too.

I can totally see BSG in the shape, though.

I think he means the big ship in the front.
I guess you are talking about the small one on the right side.

I dunno. That ship looks even *less* like BSG. The ship in the BG looks somewhat similar to BSG, at least having somewhat similar design characteristics. But as the previous poster said, I think it's the soliton wave test ship.

Indeed it is. It's a kitbash of two Los Angeles-class submarine models attached to a larger-scale Soviet sub model on outriggers.

I often notice when consoles need to be dusted--the ones in Engineering with the deep corners are terrible for this--and I caught when Data's makeup stopped before his uniform collar in "The Icarus Factor."

If it weren't for the raised decks starting a few meters in, I can see why somebody could mistake the ship in the front for the bow of the classic Galactica.
Since we only see a part of the ship, it makes it more difficult to tell.

On the other hand the ship in the background is in clear view. And the way would-be-landing-bays are connected to the main hull is too different for it to be considered a version of the Galactica, even at first glance.

That happened often in seasons 1 and 2. Spiner's chest hair was also visible.
