My two favorite parts of the Yanks/Astros game tonight: 1) Chris Young's homer, and 2) Nolan Ryan not doing the wave. :techman:

Today's installment of "pitcher wins are a meaningless statistic": Matt Harvey has failed to win 14 career starts in which he has allowed one run or fewer.

He had it going last night for sure.

....Tanaka on the other hand... 2 starting in a row he has struggled.... not good.

His elbow has been a ticking time bomb since before he was posted by NPB.

^ No, more like the "fielder's choice" that let the Mets win the first game today. He just STOOD there and made no attempt to play the ball...

About Phillips, though: The Mets broadcasters said that he has played alongside 28 different shortstops in his Reds career. That can't be right, can it? 28? :wtf:

I wouldn't be surprised, since Larkin retired a dozen years ago the SS position has been a revolving door.

Re: 2015 MLB Season - Can the Cubs FINALLY win the World Series? (No.)

yeah, not a shock. Dustin Pedroia has only been playing since end of 2006, and I can't imagine how many SS he's played with since. Can't find a recent article, but one before the 2013 season had low 20s, and that was without Xander, Holt, Drew, and probably another handful of randoms that played a game or two at the position. Be shocked if Pedroia didn't have more thatn 28 double play partners, or was well on his way to that number. He's also filled in at SS himself, if he gets to count that :p

Thats about right, I mentioned the Mets needing help a little while back.

Who would have thunk that in a dispute about money owed ARod, that ARod would come out as the bigger person. The "donation" of the 3.5 million of the 6 million that was owed him to charity is fantastic. Yeah ARod is rich and probably doesn't need the money, however it was still owed him. Has anyone ever have a better personality rehab in such a short time as ARod?

His greatest asset is that Hal and Hank Steinbrenner are very much not like their father and place "process" and cost certainty above all else -- which makes them rather unlikable. I've said before that I believe Rodriguez was juicing all along, certainly back in Seattle if not before being drafted, and I had very little sympathy for him until the details of MLB's sham investigation into his usage and the Steinbrenners' desperate attempts to get out of that contract came to light. That he's having such an excellent "fuck you, I'm back" season is a very pleasant surprise.

Kris Bryant 7 - Miami Marlins 0....in the bottom of the second.

Bryant got his second grand slam this year, first off a pitcher.

Coming back and playing well hasn't hurt.

He was responsible for 6 of those runs as Fowler walked with the bases loaded for an RBI - but I take your meaning. :D

Re: 2015 MLB Season - Can the Cubs FINALLY win the World Series? (No.)

Yeah, I omitted the bases loaded BB.

The new pitcher Clayton Richard looked good today. They got him for cash considerations.

Funny, our favorite poster hasn't come in to complain about A-ROID (or do we prefer A-Fraud?) lately. Lots of hate when Yankees fans thought ARod couldn't help them, but when he's hitting again, he's their best friend...

Yeah, worked well for a spot start. Not sure if he'll stick.

Dallas Beeler is throwing one of the games tomorrow.

He's done better than I thought for sure. The year off just might have been the best thing for his hips. See how he was playing before his suspension I still can't believe he can turn on the inside heat now.

He's probably juicin ;)
