Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens

I stand corrected.

But I still contend that without the R-S's help, the Shatnerverse would not be as entertaining, nor cannonaly (Is that a word?) consistent.

And, IMHO, could only be done with respect to the Mirror Universe.

Great reading, but I am still enjoying DTI and Kirsten more.

So there :p

Na-ni Na ni Boo on you

Well, yes, of course -- they are collaborators on the books. That has never been in dispute. They simply aren't ghostwriters.

So when are You going to play in the MU?

Oh wait....DTI?

Let me rephrase...a seemingly innocent question....

Does the DTI have a stake in the MU.....? WAIT!

Section 31...

you folk are going to blow our minds!

Thanks, Christopher.

Your insight, in written argument, is priceless.

Do the R-S's ever peruse these Boards?

We are all fans, and appreciate your interaction.

Write on, Our dear scribes, and delight Us!

Their novels were decent to read when I was a teenager, but those plots bordered on insanity at times, particularly The Return. It felt like a lot of fan service and taking things that happened on the shows/films, but writing those in ways that did not fit well at all with previously established things. I get that it was not canon, but just the whole 'Borg make a clone of Kirk to use as a weapon' does not read like Star Trek. Just my view. The Millennium stuff was good at times, but it also goes off the deep end with some of the writing/concepts.

It's been a long while since I read 'The Return' but Kirk wasn't a clone, he was resurrected with Borg tech.
Personally I felt that the Reeves Stevens went out of their way to make sure the books fit in with canon, even after TNG movies contradicted some things they were able to come up with some ideas to make it all work.

The Return was pretty awesome. I liked some of the borg ideas. Stations in transwarp space, the Central Node, different "tentacles" of the borg having different agendas (though roping in v'ger was a bit silly).

Also Kirk beating the hell out of worf cracked me up

Yeah, I remember liking The Return a lot. Then I thought Avenger was stupid, enjoyed Spectre, and then stopped reading them after both Dark Victory and Preserver both failed to do anything for me. (Though I did later pick up Captain's Blood from the library. It reinforced my decision to avoid the Shatner books.)

The last couple of entries on their Wiki page are :

In October, 2013, the IMDbPro site reported that the Reeves-Stevenses had written the screenplay for the movie adaptation of Jerry Pournelle's classic military science-fiction novel, Janissaries, also for the Goddard Film Group. The movie is listed as "In Development."

In addition to their ongoing work in television, the Reeves-Stevenses have also completed their newest novel, Wraith, scheduled to be published by Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin's Press.
I checked out their official site http://www.reeves-stevens.com/Welcome_to_Reeves-Stevens.com.html which is "getting ready to launch" but that's been the same status for a good while now.

Agree with UncleRogi. Reading their novels is like watching a TV show or movie with a large budget. It's no wonder as they wrote some fantastic episodes of 'Star Trek Enterprise' too.
Before the Martin & Mangels post-finale Ent series started I kept hoping the Reeves-Stevenses would do one.

That is an awesome thought. The Enterprise relaunch as told by the Reeves-Stevens, continuing through the Romulan War. That would have been great. (And then Christopher would still take over with Rise Of The Federation...)

I have always enjoyed their books and rank them as some of my favorites. I have only read the first six Shatnerverse novels, but found them very entertaining. Over the top in some places, but always a good read.

Jesus, that would have been brilliant. They certainly can handle grand stories such as the Earth Romulan War.
