Re: Reason why I am not happy for a 4th film.
There's some serious nerd card recall going on in this thread right now

I can go one better and say It was a Chakotay episode, but that's about it.

Wait. Was it an Enterprise episode or a Voyager episode? Now I'm totally lost.
To be fair, the latter-day shows did have their fair share of memorable titles: "The Best of Both Worlds," "Measure of a Man," "Yesterday's Enterprise," "The Inner Light," "A Fistful of Datas," "Little Green Men," "Our Man Bashir," "In the Pale Moonlight," "House of Quark," etc.
I think I know, maybe, 4 Voyager episode titles at most.
On the otherhand can a memorable title make us remember an average episode?
Enterprise.I can go one better and say It was a Chakotay episode, but that's about it.

That's part of it too. I know every episode title from TOS and much of TNG, but after that it gets iffy.I can go one better and say It was a Chakotay episode, but that's about it.

Sorry about that, I was replying to an earlier post about "Cathexis" being a VOY episode, which was largely forgetable.
But as for episode titles do we tend to remember the best and worse a show has to offer? Average after all can be forgetable as there was nothing to make it stand out in one or the other.

B5 had some interesting titles.

I think I could name a few morebut my memory for remembering titles isn't what it was once. Remembering a couple of hundred vs 700+ by the time ENT finished. Not to mention other shows.
Granted, a memorable title is no guarantee of quality.
Who among us can forget "Spock's Brain"?![]()
And sometimes the title is memorable *because* of how bad it was. "Spock's Brain" might be an example, but I'm thinking "Threshold" is a better one, because the name is so mundane that there's no way I'd remember it if the episode hadn't been so. frakking. awful.Granted, a memorable title is no guarantee of quality.

Allow me.I don't remember what this conversation is even about, lol.

Basically 2 groups, those that either dont want a 4th movie, or care little or none for this alternate rubbish
And the second group is those that are upset with the first group for daring to have an opinion![]()

The general lack of any sense of humor among the pro abrams fans is very disappointing, it is almost like any negative comments are taken as personal and deadly serious.
Way I see it people can moan and dislike things i like and i wont get negative, defensive etc, afterall the thing is once you enjoy the product why care if others dont like it.
And secondly if we all agreed on everything it would make for a poorer forum.

On the other hand, let's be honest here. Are you really that surprised that some fans see phrases like "alternate rubbish" as fighting words?
On a STAR TREK message board? In the "Movies X+" forum?
If you swung by, say, the Voyager forum and dismissed the entire series as "rubbish," I suspect you would provoke a similar response!![]()
Some people act like their entire lives revolve around Star Trek and if they get a product they dislike, they need to make sure that everyone knows for all eternity how dumb the films are and how Paramount screwed them.
Oh, it wasn't the same product. Don't get me wrong, you have a point - it was definitely the same *formula*, and that probably could have used updating, too. But more importantly, in my opinion, they had fouled the ingredients being used in the existing formula that had worked well before: stale lazy writing, phoned-in acting and sometimes even phoned-in direction, and what innovation had been in the shows went away. I refuse, for just one instance, to believe that TNG would have left Harry Kim an ensign for 7 years. Admittedly, TNG did hit the reset button for things that happened in previous episodes fairly regularly, but they *did* progress the characters from season to season, at least! As for the TV the audiance dwindled, sure there are many factors at work but could perhaps be one of them they were putting out more or less the same product in the noughties as they had in the eighties? When tastes had moved on?
