ENTER! Misc Avatar Contest: A Celebration of My Country

Through a quirk of history, Canada and the US celebrate their "national" holidays within a few days of each other: July 1 and July 4, both of which fall within the next week. So I wanted to tie the contest into that somehow, but limiting it to *just* that was way too North American-centric... this is the World Wide Web after all, and members here are from all over the globe.

So our theme for this contest is A Celebration of My Country. You may enter anything related to your country: a flag, symbol, historic building, landmark, natural phenomenon... even something like a traditional food or dress.

(There was a listing in the stickied Theme List thread for "Your Country's Wonders of the World", but I'm hoping this theme is different enough to not be too repetitive.)

Standard avatar rules apply, of course: maximum size is 150 x 150, and no larger than 140 KB if animated. As usual, no media sources, please.

So have fun, and let's celebrate our diversity! :techman:

Are historical figures allowed? If so my pick would be...

Tecumseh, one of the major heroes of the War of 1812 (victory in which made possible Canada's later nationhood).

I have no idea where it originally comes from; it was used as a photo on TheBlaze.com in the last half year; I shrunk it down:

Yeah, If I remember, I created that last one. It was pretty popular, so curious to see what everyone comes up with this time around.

That one of the moon is going to be hard to beat. But I guess I'll follow it up with this:

Land of Cream and Pasties.

Last Friday was National Cream Tea day, so I just happened to have this image lying around.

It's a damn shame that The Beef isn't Canadian, or you could claim him as a national treasure, and you wouldn't even have to change your avatar. I know I swell with patriotic pride every time I see him.

If there was a way to work Shatner in without violating the no-media rule, I totally would.

But check out the expressive range of this Inukshuk:

(Replacing my Tecumseh entry.)
