The Official and Very Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thread

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

Besides, Kevin Murphy's Servo was vastly superior.

Yeah, I agree. Just as Trace's Crow was better than Bill's, though to Corbett's credit Crow did become more of an unhinged and a darker character after the series moved to the Sci-Fi Channel and his twist on his personality made for some hilariously disturbing riffs from Crow during the final years of the show.

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

My favorite MST3K episode is also the first that I saw back in 1991 was FUGITIVE ALIEN, a wacky Japanese adaptation of Edmond Hamilton's STARWOLF novels.
An oddity about this episode - Very early on in the movie, Crow references the movie MAROONED, saying that FUGITIVE ALIEN reminds him of it. Yet the next season, when Joel and the bots actually watch MAROONED (under the title SPACE TRAVELERS), Crow acts like he's never seen the movie before.
I know, it's just a show, I should really just relax.

Some of the Mads' Invention Exchanges from the fourth and fifth seasons, and a few in this video are among the funniest ever filmed and my all-time favorites. :)

Those are great. The U-View is my all-time favorite.

The Johnny Longtorso gag goes all the way back to "Women of the Prehistoric Planet" in Season 1.

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

"This one comes with a maze, and you try to get the motorcade past the Book Depository."

I have laughed at that far more often and much more loudly than I ever should have.

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

I love every single thing about MST3K and now I love cooleddie74 for making this thread. :D MST3K is something that has always held very happy memories for me, and it's a staple in my household ("Hey, let's get a pizza and watch MST3K!"). No matter what the cast changes, it always entertained.

Favorite movies: The Sword and the Dragon, OUtlaw of Gor (which gave us the song Tubular Boobular Joy), I Accuse My Parents, and whatever episode I happen to be watching at the moment. And the shorts! Don't even get me started! A Date with Your Family and The Chicken of Tomorrow are not to be missed.

In recent years, the Rifftrax versions of Twilight have restored my faith in humanity. ("Line??") I went to a Cinematic Titanic show and it was epic, so the good work continues.

Thanks. :D I'm glad you guys are enjoying this thread so much.

This is one of my all-time favorite shorts. "So the leading causes of accidents are joy, sex and old age?"

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

"George Price gave up on the job! There, I said it!"

Oh duh, I forgot The Final Sacrifice. "Rowsdower!"

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

"George tried to go to Fred Bellows' funeral."

Crow: "But Baywatch was on!"

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

What was the name of that Eighties film where the guy with glasses and a quasi-mullet had a time-traveling airplane or something?

I just remember the first time the guy appeared onscreen, and Crow saying, "Oh, please don't let him be the hero. ... Movie? ... MOVIE!!"

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

It's also the episode where a time travel mishap by the 'Bots creates an alternate timeline wherein Mike dies in an accident while playing music and is replaced by his lookalike brother, a hard-drinking bully and jerk who intimidates the 'Bots into doing his will. It's hilarious to see an alternate-timeline member of the Nelson family smoking, drinking beer and walking around the theater during the movie. :)

Re: The Official and Most Rifftastic Mystery Science Theater 3000 Thre

It also features Servo with a pill shaped "bubble" after he and Crow lull Mike into saying "lost in space" to describe their situation. Crow dresses in a velour tunic as the other half of the infamous duo, Dr. Smith, and the pair drive Mike to distraction as they play their roles.

Sincerely,

Bill

And you gotta love it when the bad guy has his offices in the mezzanine of a shopping mall.
