Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

There are some more details in the link at the end of the article:

STAR WARS AFICIONADO's version of the Bothan Spies have informed us that some new jungle exterior sequences, involving a massive air/ground bombardment, have been filmed at the studio (inside and out), including one key part of an action sequence involving star Felicity Jones (fresh from weeks in and out of the gym in preparation for the action heavy role), plus some kind of scene-setting on board the original Death Star, with sets for The Force Awakens re-dressed alongside some familiar and new areas of the Battle Station specifically designed to have fans agog. Pinewood Studios legendary water tank facility looks set to be used, too, but not necessarily in the way you think. Beyond the UK, prior location scouting in America (Florida) and Venezuela for specific types of land mass and plantations has also been indicated.

Awesome.

That's cool that they're preparing to give elaborate studio tours of Pinewood for tourists as well (from the fist article).

A Han Solo origin film sounds pretty dull to me. You have this entire universe to play around with and we get to see more of a character we've already had in, at least, four movies? Yawn.

It's entirely possible the film will be great. It's just not what I'd want out of an anthology film. I'm sure it'll do great business, though.

Darn, I think I would have much rather seen them do the Flash movie instead. Somehow that seems like a better fit with their style than a SW movie.

They can go in any direction. Forward or backwards. It just depends on who has got a good enough story idea that someone a Lucasfilm will want to put money into it on the Big Screen.

The smaller ideas get reworked for TV, novels, and comics. And sometimes video games.

Han Solo, Imperial hotshot officer. Rescues Wookiee slave against orders and is kicked out of the Fleet. Drifts for a bit, then hooks up with Lando or gets some other rustbucket ship until he can win the Falcon of Lando, then run roughshot across the galaxy for a few years before winding up dumping a load of cargo intended for Jabba the Hutt.

If they use to run together, than it be the same film. Or if Fett had a habit of picking up on Solo whenever the man get a bounty on his head (by the Empire or Hutts, or whoever), then that might work. Otherwise if be set between ANH and ESB with Fett trying to catch Solo while he was working for the Rebels (Ord Mantell).

Or to be really weird, use it to confirm Fett lives and set it after Return of the Jedi, but then you'd need to get someone that can look like Ford did back in 1985, rather than someone in their early 20s that might pass for Ford for an Young Solo story. (Young Indiana Jones lives!)

I was surprised by this news because all the rumors were pointing to Fett being next. I'm looking forward to it. Especially if its Han vs Fett.

I'm also surprised the two announced movies have been OT Era so far. I thought the point was to make spinoffs of the New Trilogy to reuse the sets.

This has a lot of potential. I can understand some of you guys wanting new characters, but it was pretty much a given that at least some of the Anthology films would focus on old characters, and Han seems like the perfect choice.

Maybe they'll give us an honest version and it'll be about Han running drugs for the Hutts. Breaking Bad meets Star Wars.

What I'd really like is an Obi-Wan in exile film. If only McGregor would come back for that. There's at least one good story to tell there.
