Question for Muslims: Replicated food Halal?

My main experiance is with Judaism rather than Islam. Orthodox Jews can be very ridged. It gives non-Jews that work for them nice fat paychecks when they need work done on a Jewish holy day or week. I use to work at a Jewish Community Center and we got either more days off or holiday pay for most Jewish holidays and Federal holidays.

Time-travel stories are overdone, to be honest.

(I'm assuming the story involves a starship finding itself back in time in the past where people still worried about superstitions such as the ones mentioned above.)

That's quite the assumption. Why must you presume that in a mere 350 years hence, everyone will be perfectly reasonable? (And, by "reasonable" I mean "share exactly your opinion.")

We can safely assume that there will always be people who choose to honor traditions from their cultural past and who embrace ideas you may deem superstition. But, truth be told, a lot of people are superstitious, and, it can be argued that superstition is one of the defining developments in human evolution. We are superstitious in an intrinsic way, and while many people can look past that, many can't or won't. The future will have just as many weird spiritual requirements that people volunteer to follow as the past and present do.
