I had an idea. Picard as a sleeper agent..

OK I had this really wacky idea which I never really did anything with. I was going to do a fan fiction but it never happened but I really liked the idea I created.

In First Contact Picard can still hear the Borg subspace chatter and that helps him plot the attack on the Borg cube. Now you know Dr. Crusher had removed all the Borg implants and technology from his body prior to this movie, but FC gave me this idea...

What if there was still something that they overlooked deep in his brain that they could not find that was allowing him to still hear the Borg, and that at a specific time they could trigger that and get him to do something he would not be aware of that helped the Borg?

I was half thinking that's the reason he shot the cube and part of the reason they escaped in the sphere. Anyway I had actually thought that at some later point in time they would trigger this and he'd be doing something without his knowledge to help them from inside the Federation..

What do you think?

^Well...

I don't know that the Borg could have used Picard in that way; although he could hear the Collective, his impressions of their thoughts were vague at best--which suggests that the Borg were probably only vaguely aware of Picard unless he were in close proximity to them.

I get that. I had this whole idea panned out that he would have unwittingly done some sabotage inside the Federation the weakens their defenses to the Borg.. I never finished it though.

If that were the case it'd be difficult to explain why they did not trigger the implant in FC. But there is some precedent for Borg implants spontaneously regenerating in The Raven.

There's the scene in I Borg where Hugh is beamed into Picard's ready room, and upon seeing Picard says "Locutus."

Picard immediately responds with "Yes. I am Locutus of Borg."

The first time I saw that, for several moments I thought Picard might actually secretly still be in the Borg.

I'm sure dramatic license had much to do with what we saw in FC, but maybe there is some kind of sound between Borg that only a person that knows what it is could hear it?

If Riker and Picard were in the same place, they both may be able to hear the same sound but only Picard would discern what it is where Riker might just think it's some random noise. I always took that explanation for what we saw and heard.

I think witht he advancement of the Borg from TNG to the Movies/Voyager I always figured that MOST of the Borg implants were removed from Picard, but not all of them. There were no Nanoprobes mentioned till the movies and you never saw how they assimilated people till First Contact, although the pinch that settled Picard in Best of Both worlds could have been the nano probes being injected.

I think with the dream of the Borg implant breaking through Picard's cheek was to imply there were inert implants still there.
