Marvel/Netflix Daredevil Season 1

Rumors floating around that Sofia Boutella (blade-footed Gazelle from the Kingsman movie) is a possibility for Elektra in Daredevil season 2.

That's one of those rumors that's so freaking awesome that I'd be really disappointed if it doesn't turn into reality.

So, finished it. Girlfriend and me took our time, since we wanted to enjoy it over a period of time, and not be done with it in a day.

Awesome show. Loved it. I'm no expert on comicbooks, so for all I know most of the details are way off. But it was just put together so well. The character dynamics, the acting, the fights. Good solid entertainment here, can't wait for season 2.

Might have mentioned this before, but Stick was probably my favourite episode. One of those supposedly self-contained episodes that help the overall story arc and just feel polished and full-blooded; the script was bona fide Doug Petrie.

I was surprised and disappointed that Stick was only in a single episode.

And then I was utterly shocked to learn that Frank Miller INVENTED Stick in the 80s. How did DD learn his ninja skills in the continuity before that?!

The old implication of self-training...the same as with Batman in older tellings of his origins.

He wasn't a Ninja.

Men could just fight back then.

No training, you just get to like the sound of fracturing some other buggers eye socket and want to do it more.

Remember, %85 of everyone was always drunk back then.

Hmmm.

His daddy was a boxer.

Boxing was his go to skill?

But how does that explain swinging from rootops and the acrobatic high wire acts?

His super senses extended to a super inner ear which equates to super equilibrium?

Yup, all covered.

As Guy says, he wasn't portrayed as a ninja until Miller brought that element in. He was just another acrobatic pugilist in the same vein as Spider-Man, Batman, and so many other Silver Age superheroes.

So, the other day a couple of alleged audition tapes from actresses reading for Elektra leaked onto Vimeo and were quickly deleted.

The dialogue that they read were from two different time periods-- Meeting Matt in college and as a full-blown assassin. Even though they probably won't use the same dialogue in the show, I will still spoiler code it...

Elektra: Easy. No moving. No talking. Right now we play a game called, "This is not a conversation." Sit on the bed.
Thug: Please, my pills, can I get them?
Elektra: The .38's gone. So is the knife you stashed under the pillow. Anything else I should know about?
Thug: I'm getting on a plane just like you said. Tickets on the counter.
Elektra: I saw, window seat and everything.
Thug: I told you before, you and your partner, it was a long time ago but...
Elektra: (makes a threatening move with weapon)
Thug: I'm sorry. I'm doing everything you told me to do. I'm leaving behind my whole operation.
Elektra: And when you get to wherever you're going on, I assume you set up shop doing the same sh*t you did here.
Thug: No.
Elektra: Hurting innocent people all because you're too lazy to get rich the hard way.
Thug: What the hell do you want from me?
Elektra: My partner was a good kid and became a hell of a grown up. But he had goodness in him, once upon a time. The way he tells it, he comes home one night and heard a blow dryer in the bathroom. Dinner's on the table. He waits a second, but he's starving - he's eats alone. Assumes she'll be out any minute - she'll be mad, but she'll understand. Always does. He's a good son. He goes to find her, blow dryer still on and there she is - brains on the god damn mirror!
Thug: Your partner, that woman was his mother? And he doesn't even know you're here, does he?
Elektra: Sometimes it is better off not knowing.
Thug: I'm old man, I don't have much time. I'll give you everything.
Elektra: There is no version of this where you walk out that door.
Thug: Please, lady.
Elektra: Call me that again and I'll cut your tongue out.
Thug: You promised you wouldn't kill me.
Elektra: He said he wouldn't kill you, but me, I never had goodness in me. (slow stabbing motion)
-----------------
Elektra: Nice shoes, wingtips, good call. Tie them yourself?
Matt Murdock: How did you know?
Elektra: You don't look like a tough read.
Matt Murdock: You never know I could surprise you.
Elektra: Doubt it.
Matt Murdock: Give it a try.
Elektra: Okay, you drink Macallan because you're afraid beer would give you a frat boy vibe. You've never been inside a fraternity house. You weren't even a boy scout. There is no club you would join because it would choke the air from your lungs. You'd suffocate. Shall I go on?
Matt Murdock: Please do.
Elektra: Now you think we're flirting. Your mind's racing. You're wondering what piece of wit you can think of next. Know what your problem is? You're pretty, but dumb. Too dumb to know the game is already over and you lost before you stepped to the plate.
Matt Murdock: You got that all from a pair of wingtips?
Elektra: Quick study.
Matt Murdock: You know what I think?
Elektra: Tell me.
Matt Murdock: You're bored. Bored of the parties, the faculties, all of it.
Elektra: And I need just the right bad boy to take me away from all this. Is that it?
Matt Murdock: Basically.
Elektra: Know something, you're right. (takes drink and drinks it) Let's go.

Apparently, the actresses in question were named Shiva Kalaiselvan (who doesn't seem to have an IMDB page) and Louisa Mignone.

Keep in mind that these were allegedly audition tapes. Who knows how many women read for the part? There's no guarantee, even if the tapes were real, that either of these actresses will ultimately play Elektra.

Rumors going around Jason Statham is being looked at to play Bullseye in Season 2.

Which, if true, HOLY HELL!!!!

Yes - he is one of England's greatest living actors - he would make a fantastic Bullseye but I doubt this is true.

The Stathe can do anything. Does Bullseye do any naked, oiled wrestling? Because that'd be a sure thing for him.

I like Jason Statham, but I think he'd be a poor fit for Bullseye. The only thing he has in common with Bullseye is he looks like Colin Farrell's version of the character. My hope is they go as far away from that as possible. Aside from one story with Bendis, he's never had that look in the comics.

You don't have to pay him too much to not have a hair cut.

I wonder if they'll tell him he has to speak yank?

I only ask because one of my favourite Bullseye moments, is before super crime he was a base ball pitcher, and the batter pissed him off, so Bullseye beaned him between the eyes dead.

It's harder to do that playing cricket.

I hated Farrell's Bullseye. I actually don't think Daredevil is a bad movie -- not the director's cut, anyway -- but I never liked Farrell in it.

Yes, he's the guy that killed two policeman and injured the detective in an attempt to frame DareDevil as the bad guy. It's the episode where Fisk took out the Russians.

Statham is out, apparently because of yesterday's leak...

Long story short? He was legitimately in heavy negotiations for the role and the leak killed it. Perhaps his agent saw the positive uproar and instantly upped the actor’s asking fee? Perhaps the studio spotted the same excited reaction and preemptively killed the deal out of fear of Statham’s management going for more money? Who knows. The bottom line is that yesterday the Crank star was at the top of the list and deep in negotiations and today Marvel has moved on to other pastures.
