Yeah, we gotta go with the scientific consensus on this one: it's just about 13.8 billion years old, with a margin for error of about 37 million years in either direction.

In other words: 16.7 billion is way off.

There is alot of information that is not made public in many areas for a very good reason. SO . you see things are kept back from the public for a good reason and it has happened for over 2000 years Absoloute FACT. documents, secret video conversations between key people, Yes access i do have . but why bother. What would be the reason for keeping back a scientific fact such as "the universe is a few billion years older than is commonly thought"? Who benefits from that? Why would someone do it? Doesn't small the smell test, sorry.

Newpball, accusing people of trolling is stepping over the line. Consider this a friendly warning.

Infiniteparad8x, two things. First, a topic such as this one needs links to reputable (note the emphasis) scientific sources to provide proof for anything you wish to state as fact. A statement such as "A scientist in Calcutta", for example, needs a link to the actual scientist and what he/she has to say about the topic. Second, the SciTech forum is NOT, I repeat, NOT the place for conspiracy theories. { Emilia } and I have no patience for conspiracy theories which cannot be backed up by reputable (there's that word again) sources. If you wish to discuss conspiracy theories you need to do so in the Miscellaneous forum, but even there those kind of threads tend to spiral into chaos quickly and are shut down.
