catching up....

So I finished Age of Empress & Worst of Both Worlds. I skipped the Sorrows of Empire to read the full novel version.
I also read book 1 of Left Hand of Destiny.
Reading Sorrows and Book 2 next.

I skipped a period of DS9 between Mission Gamma and Destiny so I have Worlds of Deep Space 9, Warpath, Fearful Symmetry, Never Ending Sacrifice & Soul Key ahead of me.
Im reading the Mirror Universe anthologies and Rise Like Lions companion to those

THEN I will return to present (Disavowed, The Missing, Takedown & Armageddon's Arrow sit on my shelf patiently)

Then you have tons of books ahead of you. Still waiting for my German Rise and Fall of Khan Vol. 1 novel. It will be available in the next several day.

Does anyone know the feeling of waiting for a novel to be finally available?

Yes but just I thinking of a ton of Star Trek ahead of me brings a smile to my face.

I actually do know the pain of waiting as I really want to dive into the current stuff (Ive read everything from Destiny to the present stack I mentioned) but I have put off catch up.
Besides the timing seems to be working in my favor, by the time I get done with the old stuff DRGIII's new DS9 stuff will be out so I wont have to wait like everyone else on the Ascendant story lol

I killed the time by reading the Vanguard novels. Just one Vanguard novel left. I enjoyed it so far. And the next several weeks entail fun: both Khan novels, the German edition of Cold Equations and another German New Frontier novel. And I try to catch up with older original novels. I still have to order Vulcan's soul I and III.

I wrapped up the Typhon Pact duology by DRGIII. I'm now taking a break from the post-Nemesis stuff. I'm continuing my read-through of the older stuff in publication order. Right now i'm on the Star Trek IV novelization. I'll eventually get back to the post-nemesis stuff with the Cold Equations trilogy, The Fall, and the other post-Fall stuff. As well as all the voyager Kirsten Beyer books.

Thats funny because Im actually doing the opposite. I got almost the entire run of TOS books at a used book store going out of business. I was reading through in order but stopped to get caught up on the DS9/Mirror stuff so I can get back to Post-Nemesis books.
The last one I read was Prometheus Design. I actually didn't find it as terrible as the impression alot of people on here gave it.

I am so far behind, it's sad. And to top it off, I know I'm getting a bunch more books for my B'day that'll get added to the pile. The plan was to catch up when I retire, but now that retirement is only going to be 2 days long, I will have to start digging into the pile.

Same here, i found all of the old numbered TOS books at a used bookstore. The guy sold me the entire 97 book run for only $80. That was a few years ago. I've already own all the TNG/DS9/VOY/etc. books. i have the entire collection on 3 bookshelves in my basement. I've been making my way through the books in publication order, slowly but surely. I'm almost to the point pocket started the TNG books.

I've gotten back to work on getting caught upon Trek Lit too. I just started Voy: Acts of Contrition yesterday, and I also have The Fall: Revelation and Dust waiting on my tablet.

So where do you guys find all your time to read, do you not watch any movies or tv shows, do you work ? I'm stuggling to find time, I've been sticking to mostly the TOS novels because you don't need to read a backlog to know whats going on. I think I'm going to do the Vanguard/Seekers stuff next as its a good offshoot to TOS, but the TNG and DS9 stuff would take such a massive amount of backreading I haven't even attempted

True. Vanguard is great, don't miss it. There will be times when I don't have much time for reading either.
Until then I enjoy it. :)

Besides, someone has to buy the novels of David Mack, Christopher, Greg Cox, Kirsten Beyer and all the other fine writers. I'm collector. It's a compulsion. But I honestly need my sweet time to read the books, especially in English, which isn't my first language.

For the last several months I've tried catching up on reading the older novels. Vanguard is some of the best written Tos era novels Character arcs I've read in a long time. I've also been reading Star trek S.C.E. Anthology book Wounds I really liked the Ds9 stories featured in this book. I also read Home coming by Christie Golden I liked the book and hope to get the Farther shore.

basically my books are my tv after work. I don't really watch much tv. So while my wife watches something, i zone it out and read. I always liked the line from the Princess Bride "Books were my tv." or however it goes.

It's nice to have a good book at hand when there is nothing interesting on tv. Sometimes I read while my TV is on, albeit with muted volume.

My routine allows for it. During the week I work 2nd into 3rd shift. As my son has to be up early for school and my wife to work (she works from home) I find no point in going to bed til they have their day underway, then I sleep during the day til I go back to work and then repeat the cycle.
this gives me 3-4 hours to read every night. (The weekend is a different story lol)
I generally watch my shows and movies with my wife on weekend. Reading is also a better choice overnight because it allows me to get dishes, laundry etc done too.
Besides a tv might wake the sleeping Pug in my lap and then licks ensue and nothing gets accomplished lol

I watch tons of TV and movies, so I read in the bathroom, during breaks at work, and usually once the primetime shows are over, and I go to bed I read during the commercial breaks of the shows on then. I also don't drive and my mom and I work at the same store, so if I she goes in before I start I will go with her and then read in the break room until my shift starts. The one issue I've run into with breakroom reading is it means I can't read some of my adult comics like Saga, Sandman, and Fables as much as I do some of my other stuff.

I have so much catch up to do I have shelves of books I am up to Plagues of Night in i have missed the last to Mission Gamma book thro to destiny just as at the time i could not get them at the shop.
Have not Read the vanguard novels tho i have the on my Ipad and i have all the new frontier Novel but not read them.
Still have TNG Brinkmanship, Cold Equations Book 1: The Persistence of Memory , Cold Equations Book 2: Silent Weapons ,Cold Equations, Book 3: The Body Electric ,The Stuff of Dreams, The Fall - The Crimson Shadow:, The Fall - Peaceable Kingdoms, The Light Fantastic, Q Are Cordially Uninvited...,Takedown ,Armageddon's Arrow.
I am currently Reading ST Voy Protectors.

I think i need to book out the rest of my life to just catch up as i get a new st book at the shop every month.

Due to various physiological complications, my reading is - and long has been - very erratic. Sometimes I can read through a pile of books in a small manner of days, while at other times I can't concentrate enough to read. This last week or so has been one of those times - I'm still only a few chapters into Armageddon's Arrow, where I would have read through it in a day when I was "on form".

So I finished Left Hand of Destiny 1 & 2, Mirror Universe: Glass Empire & The Sorrows of Empire (full novel).
Im reading Worlds of DS9 vol 1-3 then Warpath-Fearful Symmetry- the Soul Key- Never Ending Sacrifice. I plan to break it up between books with MU stories....what order should I read Obsidian Alliances, Shards and Shadows and Rise Like Lions?
Rise appears to be last but I wasnt sure how Obsidian and Shards fall?

The order you have there would probably work best. Shards and Shadows has stories all over the timeline, but I believe the latest one is after the stories in Obsidian Alliances.
