Jonathan Frakes: "Star Trek won't be coming back to TV."

Spamming is a bannable offense you better watch it pal if you wanna continue posting. If you cant defend your position dont post.

No one is spamming. You made a nonsensical comment that you are trying to desperately back away from now and are being called out on it.

Life is harsh on a Trek message board.

Yet you are spamming pictures and smilies. It is really you trying to back away from this without getting scratched.

You're confusing me with others. I haven't posted any pictures nor really commented on your Tasha Yar Netflix idea.

There's a reason some of us think TV was better in the past.

It was.

Unfortunately for you, time only moves in one direction. ;)
The only way we could go back to 60s-style TV shows would be if our society became radically conservative, which I think a lot of people would resist. Who wants to live in a time when Jeannie's bellybutton is a moral scandal, and black people only play servants and savages?

What does any of that have to do with writing good television? It is possible to write good TV without everything becoming political you know. At least, it used to be.

^ I was thinking she'd be back in the 21st century, less needed for expensive sets. She'd be the stripper with a heart of gold, and a mean aikido chop.

Ah, I missed the "go back in time" business.

Personally, I still want an "Assignment: Earth" reboot with updated versions of Gary Seven, Roberta Lincoln, and Isis.

If it was up to me, though, I would sever all connections to STAR TREK continuity and just make it its own thing.

You could still bill as it being "From Gene Roddenbery, Creator of STAR TREK" . . . .

I never had an idea for any of these characters I made a comparison and then clarified what I meant. If you didnt get it it's your loss bub.

Would be very interesting to see.

Maybe someone needs to bang up an NCIS/Star Trek mash up and sell that to CBS.

Or try a Arrow/Flash/Supergirl version of a Star Trek show and sell it to the CW.

My point is that broadcast TV is very creatively conservative, and loves to follow the hot trends, none of which currently would fit the Star Trek universe.

Never mentioned it as an idea for a show. But please do keep making things up.

For those who wish not to click links:

I can only think of two characters that would be great for a netflix series and that is commander Riker or Tasha Yar.

Thanks for proving my point that I never said they should become shows. Only that they would fit the model of such shows but do please continue to make up my position since you got yourself stuck in a rock and a hard place.

As noted with historical references earlier, Yar would not fit your model, as she is a one-note character who never had breakout potential. What significant part of the ST fanbase is dreaming of a Yar--anything? Nearly three decades after her debut, Yar is not even as remembered as Arex from TAS, or hotheaded, one-shot Boma ("The Galileo Seven") from TOS. Emphasis on one-shot.

Yar had a season to turn into something, but did not, so no present-day producer is going to waste a dime on what is nothing more than a less-than-fringe interest among a fringe group of ST fans.

Maybe you should have posted it differently? Cause when someone posted something and read it. They all think it mean one thing, but it really meant something else.

Unless they're rebooting Next Generation? Tasha Yar isn't coming back. And that Tasha won't be played by Denise Crosby.

Everyone, lay off thepigeon a bit, he's new.

thepigeon, I haven't seen anything in this thread that's over the line yet. People around here sometimes play rough, but it's all in good fun. Usually.

Will do, Lindley. :)

Why can't this be a show?!

Star Trek: Honeytrap

Yar is recruited by Starfleet Intelligence to go back in time to track down an ellusive villain, but in order to hunt him down she has to take on the role of a stripper.

A 57 year old Tasha Yar as a stripper? Yeah, pass. :barf:
It's almost as bad as an elderly Uhura dancing naked in Star Trek V.

I don't know if anything is as bad as that scene...

And I don't know if I want to know.

Well, I suppose if you like naked granny fan dances, you're golden. But for the record, Nichols was 57, the same age Crosby is now, and neither need to be doing strip teases.
