When my computer thinks it is smarter than I am.
I was on google searching the Mego Captain Americar and it gave me Mego Captain America. I corrected it and it still asked "Did you mean Mego Captain America?"
I really want that program that lets you actually tell the computer "No you idiot, just search what I typed, NOW!"

10 days ago a colleague contacted me to say he urgently needs a pipe examined that might carry polluted water.
I called him back, asking for directions. He replied he had none. Somewhere south of soandso-village, downstream of the well.
Thursday last week I went out in a hailstorm, found a pipe, examined it, wrote an experise and sent it to him.
Today he sends me a mail saying that's the wrong one. He adds a photo he himself took, dating from thursday 2 weeks ago (one week *before* I went there and 4 days before he called me).
Now, why can't he send the photo when I ask for directions? And if he has been out there, taking a pic, why the hell can't he copy a map, put in an arrow where the pipe is and then send it to me??? And why does he tell me he doesn't know the exact spot when he actually was there with his camera?? (And since he was there anyway, why couldn't he take a sample on the spot and then send it to me?)
My boss almost laughed his ass off when he read it (I forwarded the mails to him) and we are agreed that in the future we'll only go out sampling for that guy *after* he sent us a precise map and all photos he might possibly have.
And no, that guy is not a malicious moron. He's just a lazy dork

Avast! *ugh* Their customer service is a joke. Posted a thread 6 days ago. Didn't get a response about a slow wifi loading issue. Just bumped it up with more information on said issue. Hope it works out, but I'm not holding my breath.

For some reason Avast! suddenly started blocking a particular program on one of the computers at work. The one job this computer does is 'Rip' images to our large format (52") printer. The only program that computer MUST use was blocked by Avast!, which up until then was working perfectly fine on that machine for the past four years.
Tried to get it straightened out with support, got nowhere, ended up removing the program and switched to AVG instead.
First there was the car that pulled into the double in lanes to the grocery store plaza abd then cross back into the lane right at the last second, then stopped in the lane (this is the main entrance to a large store, and it's only about three car lengths; you stop, you block everybody). And when I managed to get passed this bonehead, I then amanged to get stuck behind a car who pulled into a parking row and stopped right there, leaving no room to go around and me waiting like thirty seconds until he moved.
That was me just trying to get into the parking lot and park my car. A thirty second event was turned into a pointless near two minute cockup. There's a difference between loosing time to natural problems, and then loosing tiem to idiots who stop and block lanes leaving you unable to go around them.

Strange. Glad you got it worked out via switching to AVG. Been thinking of switching too. A shame because Avast used to be pretty good. Not sure what I can switch too on my mom's laptop. It won't be Avira though. That stuff was crap

My fiance came from an abusive home, both emotional and physical. I am now part of that family and while her folks are different now I cannot separate them from their past.
I look at them, now elderly people with medical issues, and I still get blindingly furious thinking about what had happened before.
For the greater good and our children (who have zero knowledge and would not understand yet) we have to stay civil. They live nearby and we just cannot ignore them, but really cannot stand being in the same room with them.

My sister, who lives less than an hour away, isn't even coming for Mother's Day. She hasn't visited since Mom had surgery. Not once. She calls once in awhile to give orders on what I should be doing but she can't be bothered to visit, even on a weekend.
If it weren't for nephew, who sadly is turning out to be just like her, I would never, ever speak to my sister again. She is a truly horrible human being.

Okay, so I'm cleaning and there are boxes full of heavy discarded old books with a note to go in the trash. I ask the only remaining person there is that's for me to trash or for recycling. It's for me. No problem, in fact, I prefer it this way as opposed to how it's always been done: shoving loads of heavy shit in the garbage bag so it pokes holes in it leaks any liquid into the bottom of the can and rips the bag open simply trying to carry it (which can be a struggle sometiems because of sheer weight).
I thanked the person, telling that person just earlier that day I delt with a bag so heavy I had to carry with with both hands and barely made it to the trash without is spilling the contents. The reply was:
"Yeah, some people can be so inconsiderate."
Okay, got that?
So, I'm off doing something else and this person leaves without me knowing. I came in a little early because of a longer and larger work load and still did things as normal. Since this person was in their office and about to leave and not using the kitchen, I cleaned the kitchen table.
I get back to the kitchen. The person is gone from their office. All over one end of the kitchen table is coffee. On the floor, coffee, on a couple of the chairs, coffee. No attempt what so ever was made to clean it, not even a paper towel or two laid on it to soak some up.
"Yeah, some people can be so inconsiderate."
Unfortuantely this tale isn't over. A week later, some bat-crazy day, same bat-crazy time, I change one of the bags in one of the trash cans and it's fucking heavy. What's in it? Why, some more of the same books that previously had been put into some boxes because otherwise...
