The Flash - Season 1

So why do they still have access to Star Labs if Wells owns the thing?

Because they have DNA evidence that proves "Wells" isn't really Wells?

Basically, "Wells" has ditched the place and gone into hiding, now that that the Flash and his allies know who he really is, so our heroes have basically inherited the place, albeit not in a legal sense.

At some point, I suppose, the show will have to deal with the legalities here if Team Flash is going to continue using the lab as their secret HQ, but, for now, "Wells" is in no position to have them fired or evicted--and has no more use for the lab now that he's preparing to return to his own century.

He's essentially abandoned the "Wells" identity, STAR Labs, and his wheelchair at this point, now that there's no longer in point in maintaining the deception.

"Wells" is in every position to have them evicted.

"He's a time traveller who stole Dr Wells face 16 years ago!"

Which means that yes Thawne stole money and Wells' Identity, but the original Wells did not found Star Labs. I suppose the City could get Star Labs through Civil Forfeiture but not only is that really weak, but it would mean that most cities would be able to take their local banks into custody as well.

Besides, if they out him, he outs Barry.

The secret prison alone could see the lot of them jailed for life, even if it has been signed off on by ARGUS at some point.

They're in a stalemate as far as going public goes.

That's the weak point though. Why make it easy for them? Until they go public with the DNA evidence he's still Wells in the legal sense and in control of Star Labs. Lock them out and fire them.

Well, as someone suggested, Tess Morgan could be the new director of STAR Labs, and she would continue to employ Cisco and Caitlyn.

Iris confronting Barry about his alter ego was anticlimactic, but it did serve the purpose. Also, Iris' reaction to being kept out of the loop all this time pretty much echoed what some posters have been saying here.

Grodd proved to be a formidable villain, but for the most part, he was more animal than human, not like the Grodd in the DCAU.

The better question is why haven't they availed themselves of a super AI from the future in the funky time vault, or are we to assume that Eobard downloaded Gideon into that wrist doohicky that showed Eddie future Iris' new story?

Alas, the Kurgan has become Mr. Krabs. However, this was an essential episode because all DC properties should involve a gorilla at some point.

Maybe the same episode that they deal with the legalities of their secret prison....

ARGUS has their back?

You might as well start issuing the Flash Speeding tickets every time he goes over 35 mph in the city.

Assuming a new owner for STar Labs is ever determined.
So Theta Protocol = the SHIELD helicarrier they used in AoU. The reference to Sokovia was a good movie tie-in but not quite spoilerish.

So, do you randomly post spoilers to movies in all the threads you enter?

After the Reverse Flash is eaten by time, how criminally fraudulent would it be for Team Flash to pretend that Wells is still in the background somewhere?

Collecting on Wells' patents to keep the lights on, and triple their wages.

It's what Eobard was doing to the original Wells anyways.

Best part: Iris finally telling Joe off. He totally deserved that. It's always nice to hear a character in a show finally saying what the fans have been yelling at the screen for months -- in this case, that bringing someone into the loop is more conducive to their safety than keeping them ignorant.

I'm glad they didn't drag out the "Iris knows but doesn't tell" thing for long. It was high time all these conversations happened, and they were welcome.

Weakest part: Grodd. The CGI was pretty weak; he didn't even move like a gorilla. Maybe the conceit is that he's "evolved" and thus more bipedal, or maybe the FX artists just didn't bother to study gorilla movement. And why set up that Grodd felt warmly toward Caitlin and then not use that in the climax to have her talk Grodd down, to be the Terry Moore to his Mighty Joe Young?

Also, I thought it was going to turn out that the whole thing was done so that Wells could get Cisco to build the headset. That reminded me of Grodd's mind-control helmet in the comics and cartoons, so I was wondering if this was a roundabout origin for it, if Wells would modify it into an amplifier for Grodd. But that was also less relevant to the story than I expected it to be.

But the best part of the Grodd storyline was letting Clancy Brown speak for him. Few people do Growly Villain Voice better than Clancy Brown. (Otherwise, the "mind voice" of Grodd was done by David Sobolov, who was the voice of the Gorn in Enterprise: "In a Mirror, Darkly Part 2" and is currently the voice of Drax the Destroyer in the Disney XD Marvel cartoons. He also played RoboCop in the ridiculous RoboCop: Alpha Commando cartoon in the late '90s.)

Cute clip, but how do they get the food into the cells without giving the metas a chance to break free? And how do they clean up afterward? And, and, and.

Also, why can't someone invent a standardized streaming-video format for everyone's use? The clip froze up for me about every 5-10 seconds because it wouldn't load fast enough.

Interesting, but I think a moot point soon. I am pretty sure, Wells is going to let them out of their cages all at once to create havoc in Central City as one big diversion from his endgame.

Ooh, yeah, and we saw that Wells's endgame involves reactivating the particle accelerator. Will STAR Labs even still be there after the finale...?
