What's the most expensive or valuable ST item you own.

I think he was referring to the " most impressive " quote not being from Star Trek.

I would agree, BTW, very impressive models.
Oh, okay... I guess that is what I get for not watching enough of that other science fiction franchise.

Specifically, it's a quote from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back :)

Spoken by Darth Vader during his lightsaber duel with Luke Skywalker.

The duel ended with the big reveal of.... oops, I don't want to spoil anything.

Not a great picture of it, but: Framed photo signed by 8 TOS Cast members, all obtained in person.

:techman:

Wow!!! So I gotta ask how did you get the sigs?

I'm guessing at conventions if so how many did you have to go to to get them all.

Or were any gotten besides conventions.

That's amazing. I hope there's someone you can pass that on to who'll understand it's true importance and value.

I like they're in different color pens too, gives it a little extra pizzazz.

If you ever need to de clutter your life and that's one of the things that's going to go, give me a call, I'll gladly take it off your hands :)

Pardon my French, and the fact I'm keeping a SW tangent going, but before that scene I never thought it was even a remote possibility that I'd ever have the thought in my lifetime "My God Darth Vader (not Anakin Skywalker) is a F****** Pussy"

Lucas managed to exceed my expectations once again with that scene.

Last word on it. Back to Trek

My most valuable item would be my Phase II Enterprise study model...

beyond the fact that it took two years to build and was the result of 7 years of research... it is also the only one of it's kind in existence today. I'm slowly working towards building a kit based on this model with Custom Replicas... but I'm not in any big hurry to make this model one of many.

A definite want if it is ever produced. Besides, you'll always have the original! :techman:

Most valuable? To me, it would be my Diamond Select TOS Enterprise.

Mine is simply the Art Asylum Enterprise-D. But frankly, my TOS pizza cutter, though cheaper, has provided me with countless, priceless slices of glorious pizza. It's most definitely a prized possession.

Most valuable (to me): my Netflix membership. I can watch any episode from any Trek series, and all of the movies, in glorious HD in the comfort of my living room. In second place are the slides that I shot of the 11-foot Enterprise model at the NASM back in 1982.

Most expensive: my current Trek collection consists of a few of the "making of" books, a few of the movies on DVD and Blu-Ray, and the 5" TOS Enterprise model that sits on my desk at work, all of which add up to basically almost zero resale value. The most valuable collectible that I ever owned was a 30 second, 35mm trailer for TSFS that I acquired for free, and that I later sold in an online auction for around $40.

I haven't owned a lot of Trek related stuff for some reason, and probably never will, since I'm now in the phase of my life where I'm getting rid of excess stuff and trying not to accumulate more.

For me- the complete set of Galoob/Hasbro Micro Machines models including the set III containing the Ent E and Voyager. I don't have the silver and bronze ones though- never really liked them much.

They were all obtained at 2 conventions in Sacramento in 2002.

As for taking it off my hands, well...let's see the check!

;)

Season four of Enterprise, $100, because I bought it full price from Walmart when it came out. What a boob I was in 2005. Now I buy them used.

That's efficient work. I would have pegged it as at least 4 conventions to get the whole lot.

As for the check....if it was up to me I'd make a generous offer, but I don't think I'd be able to get it by "higher authority".

I was eventually able to swing her opinion that my Polar Lights Refit Enterprise build, considering the materials, time and high level of craftsmanship involved, was more than just "a model" and a lot more reasonable than a lot of the other crap people spend large amounts of money on.

This I don't think I could ever convince her it was nothing besides some signatures on a picture no matter how hard I tried.

Don't be upset though I appreciate the true value of it though:techman:

I don't have anything much valuable. But I fear if I plotted the time I spent watching/reading Star Trek throughout the years, vs. my annual income, it would be terrible.

^^^ THIS!!!

I finally managed to get my hands on that third set on eBay last year for a relatively modest price (a little over $100 CDN, which is pretty good, considering they can go for three or even four times that much).

I also picked up a second copy of the first and second sets since my original first set was in pretty rough shape, having had it since childhood (a lot from that set are broken, and most are dirty from being handled by my grubby little fingers over the years and I have no idea how to clean them without ruining them) and my original second set included some that frankly shouldn't have passed quality control.

So that's five sets of 16 each, plus a loose 1701-A that I got, brings it to 81. If you add in a coupe of Johnny Lighting and Furuta ships I got, plus FINALLY getting one of the Eaglemoss ships recently, that's a good 95 ships (and probably more to come).

(I had no interest in the bronze or pewter ones either).

I'd tell you what my most expensive Star Trek item is, but it is part of the terms of the insurance policy on it that I'm not allowed to disclose that I own it in public. ;)

The most valuable Star Trek item I own is "Spock's World" - I wouldn't trade the lessons that it and Diane Duane's other Trek books taught me for much of anything. I have a hardcover copy signed by the author. :)

Because someone on the board will somehow determine where you live, buy a plane ticket and fly there, break into your house, and steal it?

I think the only things of interest or value I have is 2 posters from 1986, one for the 20th anniversary and one for The Cage when it was released on VHS with the black and white footage (nice posters, love the artwork). I also have a bunch of unbuilt AMT model kits and a couple in progress that I haven't touched in 15 to 20 years. I also have the blu-rays for TOS, not unique but I guess worth something. Books, quite a few, the only one worth anything is the DS9 tech manual which I guess didn't sell that well so is slightly more rare than the others.
