Sci-Fi Series Suggestions

Ah, I'm running out of sci-fi shows to watch! I was hoping you guys would be able to help me out here. Here's a list of my favorite sci-fi/fantasy tv:
Star Trek (obviously)
Farscape
X-Files
Doctor Who
Being Human (UK version)
Battlestar Galactica (new)
Torchwood
Orphan Black
Black Mirror
Lost
Sliders (first three seasons)
Game of Thrones (sometimes)

Here's a list of the shows I either didn't like or am indifferent to:
Lexx (tried to watch it twice but couldn't get past the first two seasons)
Firefly (overrated in my opinion)
Fringe (the science... *shudders*)
Heroes

Apologies since I'm sure I'm not the first person to post a thread like this, but I am getting desperate here! I've heard good things about Stargate but am not sure which series to start with. It seems a bit daunting - kind of like how I felt when I first got into Trek since I had no idea where to begin. Thanks in advance.

If you were to go with Stargate you might as well start with SG-1, the first couple of seasons of it are a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to quality.

How about Blakes Seven.

Last year I enjoyed the short-lived "Almost Human", though it didn't quite seem to reach its potential.

Kor

Being Erica - I just introduced it to a friend and she loved it so much she binge-watched all 4 seasons over a period of a month.

What genres do you like? Do you like older shows? Depending on your parameters, I could give a lot of suggestions.

To start off, just off the top of my head:

Babylon 5
Warehouse 13
Sanctuary

A couple of cool one-season wonders:

Cleopatra 2525
Space Rangers

RJDiogenes,
I'm not sure about genres. My favorites are shows like Star Trek and Farscape - heavy on space exploration and the depiction of new species of aliens, as well as heavy on social/political/ethical commentary. Time period doesn't matter much to me. I don't mind if the show is older or newer.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I will keep this list in a .txt document and make my way through each. :)

Sounds like we have similar tastes. I think you would definitely love Babylon 5.

Space Rangers is a more straightforward Space Opera. It's only six episodes and the DVDs are cheap. Not much in the way of social commentary, but it's got a kind of charm to it.

Let me give a shout out to the underrated Total Recall 2070. It just lasted a year but had some really memorable and thought provoking episodes.

Sanctuary is great.

Defiance is interesting, not perfect, but i'm enjoying it.

Based on your likes, Babylon 5 and Blake's 7 should be top of the list, with Stargate SG1 a likely bet too.

Being Erica - I just introduced it to a friend and she loved it so much she binge-watched all 4 seasons over a period of a month.

This. I feel it's quite an underrated show, though I don't know if it will fill his requirements as there are no aliens and monsters.

My suggestions for the OP, based on the criteria of wanting space/exploration-based stuff:
Caprica
Defiance
Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda
Stargate Atlantis
Power Rangers in Space
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

Big Finish who does the Doctor Who Audio drama is continuing the original Survivors from the 1970s with some of the original cast. The first box set had four full cast stories, each one hour in length. The first one is about all the people quarantined in Heathrow airport after the virus first strikes. Chilling and scary.

Voyagers is fun if you have a child to watch it with. Good PBS educationalizing hand in hand with time travellers blundering through history.

I just queued up an episode of Misfits of Science because I hate myself. Oh my golly... The opening credits are hilarious. What ever happened to Max Wright?
