Star Wars Rebels Season One (spoilers)

And Ahsoka was considered young for a Padawan. Emergency due to war and the need to give Skywalker something to help with is own issues of attachment and responsibility. Kanan might have been even younger than that. The war dragging on and the need for more Jedi on the front lines.

Kanan was still a young Padawan when Order 66 happened, close in age to Ahsoka.
Younger by a few years actually. He was literally fresh out of the temple with his new master when the order was given.
The difference of just a couple of years (assuming Kanan was roughly around the same age Ahsoka was when she became Anakin's Padawan) is still "close in age," you know. :p

Oh sure, but in terms of experience those few years make one hell of a difference.

By the time Kanan/Caleb saw his first battledroid, Ahsoka had already become an experienced and accomplished field commander, proved more adept at dimplomacy then her own master, trained insurgency forces, fought bounty hunters, mercenaries, Mandalorian death commandos, and Sith assassins. After all of which she then completed the equivalent of her knighthood trials before left the order to (I'm assuming) travel the galaxy alone.
Caleb on the other hand would have spent those developmental years fleeing for his life, hiding in backwaters and struggling just to survive from one day to the next, all without his master to guide him.

Also recall that Caleb would have been the same age--or slightly younger--than that group of Padawans Ahsoka took to Illum for their Gathering. When you're that age a year or three can make all the difference.

Just saying that while they have a lot of common ground having both grown up in the temple, there's still a gulf of experience between those two and I'm interested to see how it plays out.

I got away from the CW TV show towards the end so I can't say I'm too excited to see s2 of Rebels picking up on various threads. I guess we'll see how it goes.

We'll have to wait a few months before seeing it. But a hour episode should be fun, even if it is that dark.

I didn't read the spoiler parts, but my least favorite part was where it said "Ahsoka Tano is important to the story, but she is not thrust into the role of being the main character. The focus of the narrative is still on the crew of the Ghost." I'm still not particularly interested in the crew of the Ghost. The only original characters on this show that I like are Hera and Sabine. I would love it if Ahsoka became the main character. She's actually interesting.

The panel suggested that with 22 episodes for this season they will have time to spend on telling/showing the Ghost crew's backstories, which they didn't do a lot of last season with 13 episode.

I'm slowly warming up to Rebels, and Kanan in particular. The characters have not grabbed me yet, but reading Kana's backstory comic has informed my opinion a little bit. If the back stories they show in the series are similar it will be an interesting take.

Nice to hear. The Ghost crew certainly have a fun little Firefly-style dynamic together, but it would still be nice to see them developed a lot further and become much deeper and more interesting characters than they currently are.

And with the stakes being ramped up--and Vader now becoming a bigger presence-- I'm hoping we also see a lot less goofing around from characters like Zeb, Ezra and Chopper as well. At least not to the crazy extent we saw in the first season.

GREAT news Loth cats, we have a release date for the season two premiere and it's SOON! I was worried we'd have to suffer the wait all summer until September. They said it would be released 'this summer' and seems like they chose the first day of summer. Cheeeeeky.

CAN

NOT

WAIT.

:techman:

I've read elsewhere that the premiere will be in June, but the rest of the season will air come the fall season.

That's right. Last year the first season premiere was on Oct 3rd, that sounds pretty good if they have it around the same time. Hopefully it won't be any later than that. Interesting to see if midway through season 2 will intersect any storylines with The Force Awakens, which comes out December 18th.

Since it takes place almost 50 years earlier I doubt it. Unless they give us like a younger version of Han or Leia or something.

They could very, very easily refer to something in SWR that goes unmentioned in the OT and isn't again relevant until TFA.

Like say a visit to Jakku almost ten years before the Battle of Jakku turns it into the starship junkyard we see in TFA teasers. It would show what was there, then seeing it decades later in TFA would be interesting. Also perhaps include a character from that film (one we have no connection with yet, like say Max von Sydow's character).

I guess that could work. I just had a crazy thought, what if Kylo Ren is older, and he's one of the new bad guys. I doubt it, but it would be a cool twists, and give Rebels a whole new relevence to the overall saga.
