Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Just so everyone knows I'm still working, here are some WIP shots of the forward section of the torpedo bay. There's obviously still a lot of work to be done.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Yeah - the lighting is very imposing there.

Just a suggestion (I know it's a WIP) is to compare the rear vertical support frames on the lower section with the forward ones. I think you'll need to make either the forward ones taller or add a pit in floor in the rear to drop about a foot.

Keep up the awesome work though! :techman:

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Spent the last day building the "nose" section of the Photorp Bay. I had to guess most of the text on the graphics ("Range 1063/7" and "Photorp Charging" were the only ones I could make out, and I'm still not 100% sure about those), and since I wasn't working from solid schematics, much of the complex geometry is a best guess.

I still have to construct the torpedo tube hatch, obviously.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

And cue someone with reference photos taken during season 5 of TNG or at somebody's house or their own photos from the set in 3, 2, 1...

Terrific as always. Wow. That really is just the Klingon bridge screen, isn't it?

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Is it the Amar's viewscreen but flipped upside-down?

Donny, with all this torpedo room stuff, it would be pretty simple to use it to build your own Klingon bridge, too, wouldn't it?

It's Amar's viewscreen, but not flipped. Just moved downward.

It wouldn't be too difficult to transform this into the K'tinga bridge, but it would still definitely take away time from me completing the Enterprise. Perhaps in the future....

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

A little more progress on the torpedo bay, namely the support braces, which were a tad difficult. I'm still not even 100% sure they are positioned correctly

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Would the original TMP blueprints for the Amar help?

There's also this album from the Set Blueprint Exchange thread that may lend some more insight into their shape, size and relative position. Again, the original Amar version, but seems to be quite comprehensive.

I've been using both! Thanks!

The thing is, even with the comprehensive Amar blueprints, there are a few differences between the blueprints and what was seen on screen in regards to the angles and placement with the support beams. The changes are subtle, but they're there.

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

I really love all the renders you are creating. Do you plan on brightening up the lighting in the torpedo bay at all? The renders look quite dark to me which makes it difficult to see everything.

No matter, the work is still incredibly stunning!

Lighting is always being tweaked until the area is done, however, the lighting level seen in my torpedo bay pretty much matches that seen in the movie:

Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

We briefly interrupt this torpedo bay construction to bring you a rare TMP production shot with the first V'Ger probe, which reveals a surprising bridge detail up top...
