I don't understand the kind of organization that would knowingly take on a guy with substance abuse problems for a 10 year contract and then get all upset when he has a relapse and sought help for it.

And now he's going back to Arlington "Not a Baseball Town" Texas. Not a good situation for him.

Not a good situation for him.

Not necessarily. Nolan Ryan was the major catalyst for Hamilton leaving the team, and Ryan's off running the shitshow that is the Astros. Katie Hamilton was the other major actor, and she's getting divorced from him. Beyond that, a lot of the front office staff that worked to support Hamilton in his recovery / accountability is still employed by the team, so it's probably actually the best place he could have landed.

The Wednesday Orioles-White Sox game will be played in an empty park, because y'know, people are f%$&ing idiots. This after Monday's and Tuesday's games were cancelled.

They will play the next series in Tampa, as the home team.

They're not upset with Hamilton because he suffers from addiction; they're upset because they signed him to such an expensive contract in the first place--which they tried to get out from under by claiming the contract contained a clause related to drug or alcohol relapses.

Hamilton's personal problems gave the Angels an excuse to wash their hands of him, but the truth is that they didn't want him anymore because he wasn't productive; what's funny is that he has a chance to be productive again back in Texas now that Angels have given him away for almost nothing.

So the Braves got off to a 9-1 start in the second inning against the Nationals with their ace in Teheran on the hill. I then watched an agonizing three hour comeback capped off by a go ahead three run bomb by Dan "We are currently paying his fucking salary" Uggla. You can't write this shit.

Draft in two days! The Cowboys never let me down...Sigh

It was very frustrating to watch.

Tanaka to the DL with a "forearm strain," team estimates it will be a month before he sees a major league game. Cashman won't deny that it could be a Tommy John precursor.

Meanwhile the Cubs move to 12-7 playing small-ball. I can't wait to see this team when Rizzo, Soler & Bryant start powering up.

Fowler is getting a little hotter and hopefully Russell gets there soon.

The funniest quote I saw about the Braves loss was this, "We were paying Uggla for years to loose, why should that change after releasing him."

I saw it coming. He was being booed for some reason by the entire crowd (like 100 people.) I knew he was going to make us pay.

Today's Orioles game is closed to the public...so why is there a PA announcer?

Cubs cleared of Maddon tampering charges...

Major League Baseball has concluded its tampering investigation regarding Joe Maddon’s departure from the Tampa Bay Rays and his subsequent hiring as manager of the Chicago Cubs. The investigation produced no finding of a violation of Major League Rule 3(k) on Tampering.

Yet another narrative destroyed.

Well, they originally thought there weren't going to be any fans in the stadium, but they forgot that Hawk Harrelson was going to be there.

Cool. What I was saying last year was that I wouldn't be surprised if the league started an investigation because the entire thing seemed fishy -- and clearly the league thought there might have been fire behind the smoke, considering they took the Rays' complaint seriously. Considering the Rays filed the complaint back in November, clearly the league did some digging for the investigation to take six months. Investigation's over, no finding of fact, cool, everyone go home. Not surprising that probably the smartest GM in baseball, PR-wise, might have covered his tracks, though.

By all means, however, return to your regularly scheduled Cubs Ownership And Management Never Do Anything Wrong And Are Always On The Up-And-Up programming.

Well at least you're consistent with the clownshow.

I thought I read something about players wanting to keep the routine going so part of that routine is being called up. Also, I think there was some fans looking in from a far away gate so maybe they could hear who was batting.

You could literally hear the O's TV guys in the background of the White Sox broadcast.

Interesting thing is a game w/ no fans and a lot of runs scored and pitching changes clocked in at slightly over 2hrs. They were saying on PTI (or it might have been Kornheiser's radio show) that with no reason to 'preen' for the fans the game went quicker.
