Pegg updates on script

Man, I've just got down watching all the F&F movies and now I'm not so sure about the director choice..

Anything specific that makes you worried?

In my opinion, Lin has a number of strengths to bring to the next film, though I can understand the concerns. However, Lin did not direct all of the F&F movies. He started with Tokyo Drift, then the next, Fast 5 and Furious 6. Just for reference and hopefully to help identify what is concerning :)

It should also be borne in mind that Lin's brief when directing the FF movies was not "make it like Star Trek" - far from it!

In Germany, is he called Ubermensch?
Uhm... No. Superman is Superman and Batman is Batman. Even the Hulk is called the Hulk. But in "Die Hard", the former Stasi man Hans Gruber is named "Jack" in the german dubbing. I guess tptb where a little concerned how the german audience would take a movie with german terrorists...

Übermensch would have unpleasant connotations in this country.
Coy posts like this only mention there is a problem, but don't provide a complete response to substantiate what that problem actually is for people who might like to know - or maybe need to know. So let's see if I get it right:

You are possibly referring to the Nietzsche extension via Hitler and his program to eliminate all but the Nazi "superior race" (an ignorant concept saturated with historical, scientific, and genetic irony with a heavy dose of karma). And so Übermensch, I assume, dredges up painful connotations of the master race and it's policies of extermination. That is obviously going to get a sensitive response in Germany.

But what gives me doubt about opposition to the term, however, is a quote of the definition of 'Übermensch.'

Nietzsche's concept for "an over man" who overcomes the herd perspective and is capable of creating a new perspective without dogmatically forcing his perspective on others.

Hitler was the antithesis of someone who would not dogmatically force his perspective on others. He certainly did force his perspective on others, so he and his policies by extension don't really fit the meaning of 'Übermensch.'

interesting video. especially the view of TOS as 'plays' (never thought of it that way before but hes kind of right) and that now its blockbuster...

sounds like its going to be a 50th anniversary celebration movie...with Elba as a new character (Klingon?)

Tell me about it. After watching the Sound of Music, I was afraid that Decker and Ilia were going to break out into a song about young love.
