Yep, that's a nice night. I spent a high draft pick on him, so hoping he tears the cover off it this year :)

Re: 2015 MLB Season - Can the Cubs FINALLY win the World Series? (No.)

^The Cubs keep doing shady things (i.e., firing Rick Renteria, keeping Bryant at Triple A). It's a wonder why their pissant franchise hasn't won anything of significance in over a century.

Your bitterness is wonderful.

Your bitterness is wonderful.

I totally heard that in a Dieter voice, BTW.

Edit: Not that I mind Brett Lawrie getting plunked, but is this A's/Royals shit ever going to end?

I can't wait until Oakland gets to experience either Lawrie turning into a whining child or getting injured, both of which occur at least twice a season.

Oh, and thanks for Donaldson.

Donaldson had a hell of a series with the Braves. Speaking of that series, the ball sure carried pretty well in the Rogers Centre didn't it? It seemed like anything hit in the air was getting out.

I think that ship has already sailed.

And I find it a tad suspicious that it was all Royals who got ejected... :shifty:

The ball may carry out of it, but the Rogers Centre is a horrible place to watch a game.

I dunno, I actually kind of like the place. At least when the roof is open.

At least they're getting a natural grass field soon.

There's just too much concrete. There's not a summery, light feeling like you see in other parks and the innards (outside of the jumbotron and the centre field restaurant) have not seen renovation since opening in 1989.

65 years ago...let me repeat, 65 FREAKING YEARS ago...Vin Scully broadcast his first Dodger game. :techman:

In the spirit of the Cubs not playing with their prospects, Addison Russell got called up for today as well

Dunno that he'll stay all season, though, so maybe not a service time thing, but entertaining that this is the second one this week...

It's probably yet another sign that they're giving up on the Baez experiment (although given how devastated he has been from his sister's passing, God only knows when he'll even return to Iowa). Wouldn't be shocked to see him packaged in a trade for pitching.

You're welcome.

I'm not bitter AT ALL.

The Cubs had no fear dropping Bryant in the 4 spot, and outside of game 1, it's been paying off.

Where do you bat Russell, #2 and push everyone else back, or #9?

Re: 2015 MLB Season - Can the Cubs FINALLY win the World Series? (No.)

Russell's been an on-base machine almost everywhere he's been ... fuck it, have him lead off and boot Fowler down to 9.

Wow, you didn't even mention how it'll effect Russell's Super Two status.

I wonder why. Maybe because it doesn't fit your earlier narrative?

If you want to go on pretending for another three pages that the playing time of guys like Tommy La Stella in the 2015 season matters at all in the grand scheme of things, and that the Cubs are making prospect promotions as panicked reactions to the Oppression of Injuries and not due to their internal promotion timetables combined with earliest opportunity, be my guest.

But I thought you said they were artificially holding back people purely for financial reasons? And whatever injuries that came up (Olt, La Stella) that spurred the Bryant call-up were constructs that Cubs were using as excuses to gain the financial upper-hand 6-7 years from now? You basically called it borderline illegal.
