The Flash - Season 1

And if you've read the above spoiler, it sounds like the show's writers actually agree with me that Joe and Barry's treatment of Iris is problematical and needs to be addressed. So I'll just let the show speak for me from here on.

Nobody disagreed it was problematical. Others have simply said it's understandable on Joe's part.

I said father because we're talking about a father. A single father...
And you were correct. When you know the gender of the person you are writing about it is not considered "gendered" to refer to them as "she," "he," "mother," "father." This according to the APA Style Manual that I have to teach in college.

Exactly this. I don't understand why Christopher is getting so bent out of shape about this, when no-one is actually disagreeing with the sentiment, but rather just saying we can see why Joe would be acting that way.

Heaven forbid that they write a character as well-meaning but flawed. Then they'd have to make him grow as a character!

And I don't even know why religious bigots need to be brought into this discussion at all.

Okay, I guess I overreacted. I just have a strong need to speak up on behalf of anyone that I think is being treated unfairly, and I sometimes get overzealous about it. I was a bullied kid in school, so my sympathies are always firmly with the underdog.

And I'm just really sick of the way Joe and Barry are treating Iris, the way she's being pointlessly singled out for being kept in the dark. I'm angry at Joe, and so I bristled at hearing Joe defended. Sorry for taking it out on you guys.

I don't think it's really that he's being defended, we just understand the character's reasoning. A character can be wrong but have a complete valid reason to act that way. In Joe's case, he believes he is protecting his daughter. He's very protective of both her and Barry. This is after he was attacked by the Reverse Flash who threatened her life. I don't agree with him, but I see why he does what he does.

The love for Eddie is rather funny now, i mean he wanted to make a task force against the Flash and really got in the way of Barry's relationship with Iris, he's been a general pain all season.

On another note I hope we see Mayor Bellows again, I would love to see even more people from the old series again.

Yeah, but that's what's nice about the whole situtaion he, wanted to do the right thing for the right reasons, he wasn't ever a real antagonist and one could see his point. (Ok, punching Barry was a bit much.) He seems reasonable.

Drama is created when intelligent people do stupid things for stupid reasons and then have to cope with the consequences.

Maybe Eddie will also be the guy who raises some objections to STAR Labs' secret illegal prison....

Keep in mind that we're talking about a secret being kept from a fictional character by other fictional characters. I'm sure that somebody must have told the actress that Barry is the Flash.

I could understand why Eddie hit Barry, but higging him later was alittle strange until Caitlin explained things.

Right now Eddie is thinking, "So...Central City's metahuman champion has lightning psychosis....I'll have to be ready to put him down at a moment's notice."

It'd be interesting if Eobard possesses a new body to evade capture. Perhaps he takes Eddie's form, inadvertently becoming his own great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather.

Now that we know exactly what's going on with Wells it seems to me as though not only did Thawne absorb the physical characteristics of Wells, but he must have absorbed his memories as well. Maybe this is what has made him more sympathetic towards all his "friends". It may even be that the real Wells' persona exists somewhere inside Thawne and is exerting a certain amount of influence over him without his knowledge.

If the rest of the team finally figures out the extent of what's going on with Wells maybe Barry will find a way to save the real Wells in the past and bring him to the present. Then Cisco and Caitlin could find a way to reverse the process Thawne used on Wells and transfer all of the memories Thawne accumulated acting as Wells back into the real Wells. That would allow the show to keep Wells as a main character while still keeping Reverse Flash around for future use.

Or something. I'm probably getting way too elaborate with this theory.
