Fancy Sir Patrick leading a comedy as a coke snorting news anchor?

Because that looks like what we are getting!

BLUNT TALK
Wikipedia: ""A British newscaster moves to Los Angeles with his alcoholic manservant and the baggage of several failed marriages to host a sanctimonious talk show."

"This is Patrick Stewart as you've never seen him before – snorting coke, drinking, fighting and getting into trouble with police.
No, this isn't an episode of Star Trek Captains Gone Wild. Sir Patrick is playing a debauched cable news host named Walter Blunt in the new Starz series Blunt Talk.

The comedy, which is executive produced by Seth MacFarlane and Bored to Death's Jonathan Ames, also stars Oscar nominee Jackie Weaver and Curb Your Enthusiasm's Richard Lewis and is set to premiere in the summer."

Any TNG'ers out there takers for this?

Sounds like Frasier (sanctimonous talk show host) mets Arthur but without Kelsey Grammar and Dudley Moore.

This project would've been far more interesting had Sir Patrick Stewart taken it on whilst he was still concerned about his image and career. The choices he'd have made back then would've made such a role much more interesting, more entertaining. He's still a fine actor, but coming out with something like this now doesn't pique my interest, at all.

No illusions of what to expect with a Seth McFarlane show so if someone up here picks it up, I'll give it a shot, too. It might be fun seeing Stewart doing something so wacky.

I've been waiting for a kickass live action role for Patrick Stewart FOR YEARS now.

I can't believe he hasn't been in more prestigious movies or shows.

I hope this will turn out well for him.

I'm still wondering what exactly the hell happened to the Vegas-themed Shakespeare movie he was supposed to be doing with Sir Ian (The Merchant of Vegas). Is that in development hell or something?

I think he's gone 'full Shatner', taking on a larger-than-life caricature of a character.

For this role, maybe. Definitely shades of Denny Crane.

Personally though, Sir Patrick is a class act, 100%. Goofing off with Sir Ian is the silliest thing he's done in his career since singing and dancing on the Enterprise bridge.

I echo your thoughts. He's everything off-screen that he is on the bridge of the Enterprise.
