I live in Houston. Florida is a lateral move--- just another neighborhood in hell.

That's what it feels like up north right now. Like hell permanently frozen over. Not even a hint of warm spring weather right now.
Having been to both resorts, I agree that Disneyland is the best park overall. Besides the nostalgia factor for me, and the fact that Walt walked the park himself, I just liked the layout, variety, and ride versions better.
EPCOT was awesome, and I liked Animal Kingdom a lot as well.
I have never been to the parks solo, but I know that many people do that and enjoy it. If you haven't already checked it out, I would suggest visiting disboards.com. It is a pretty active and helpful forum focused on all aspects of Disney World (though I hang out in the Disneyland forum). There are many trip reports and suggestion threads for those who go solo. In fact there's an entire forum for "Adults and Solo Travelers." It's more common than you might think!
I will be at Disneyland in a couple of weeks, going to the Star Wars Celebration convention at the Anaheim Convention Center as well. On one of the days, my partner will be going to the convention while I go to Disneyland, so I'll get a taste of what it's like to go solo!
Oh, and about FastPass+....it's not a very popular system. I hope very much that it doesn't make its way over to Disneyland. It works okay for Disney World since those visitors are comprised largely of long-term vacationers who plan months in advance, but Disneyland is much more a locals and day-trip type of park. Many Annual Passholders don't even decide to go until that morning. Obviously FP+ wouldn't work well for that. Also, like you, I tend to use FP for the same ride over and over throughout the day. FP+ seems less geared towards repeat riding.

Ain't that the truth. I was there a couple of years ago to see Chase Field...I was dreading it, because Phoenix in July could have been 120 degrees quite easily. I lucked out, it was only 99.
As for Walt Disney World: Meh...not really an amusement park person.

We had relatives who worked @ WDW in the 80s+. While I was stationed in Orlando, I would meet up with my cousins and go for the day.
In October, my godson and I are going to Universal for 8 days. Since there are only 5 parks in our trip, we plan to go to WDW once or twice, also.
How exciting!! I admit to being a Disney geek. I have an annual pass to Disneyland this year. I went in December, I'm going again in two weeks, and then I'm going again in July (not my favorite time to go, but I'm tagging along with family). I wish I lived closer so I could go more often (it's about a 7 hour drive for me). I've only been able to go to Disney World once though, so I'm jealous!!

My whole family is probably going to Walt Disney World in October to take my niece and nephew. My niece is obsessed with Frozen and the Disney villains, especially Cruella and Maleficent. So it's probably going to blow her mind.

Another Disney geek here! Been to Walt Disney World every year the last ~5 years. We're going again with the kids in October, but this June my wife and I are going by ourselves for the first time since our honeymoon nearly 20 years ago. The kids are annoyed, but we're very excited! 
Not to hijack the thread, but I do have a related inquiry...about my July trip to Disneyland, it is actually my sister and brother-in-law who I am tagging along with. They are Disney geeks as well, but resigned themselves to not being able to go this year because they just had a baby in February. But I guess they just couldn't give up their addiction, so they've decided to go anyway. At the hottest, most crowded time of year. With an infant. Does this sound crazy to anyone else? I'm going along because I already have an annual pass and I'd like to see the 60th anniversary celebration stuff, but I do fully recognize that this may not be the typical trip that I enjoy with my boyfriend.
July in Disneyland is much easier than most times of the year in WDW, due to Florida being hotter and more humid. When my youngest was one year old, we went in one of the worst Octobers on record with every day being 100+ and insanely high humidity, and we made it through with no problems. As long as they keep the baby hydrated and don't let it get overheated or stay too long in direct sunlight, he/she should be fine.
Sounds like Hot and Humid would be the worst time to go. But it all depends on how well you handle tempature. Some people handle hot better than others, others handle colder temps better than others. And when I went in late October it was hotter than usual for that time of the year.
Spots, from one Disneyland geek to another, just keep the baby hydrated and out if direct sunlight and you should be fine. Don't forget a hat and suntan lotion for the baby though.
Thanks for all of the advice everyone, though I wasn't so much worried about the baby, that's what her parents are for. I was more thinking of whether or not we would all have a miserable time, being slowed down by a baby and the heat and crowds.
