Clearly Obama has perfected the technology for time travel and cloning and never bothered to tell us.

So the parents' curse has come to pass: "I hope that, someday, you have kids that are just like YOU."

For the non-TNZers: Friday after the initial tears I went and got a tattoo to remember Leonard Nimoy by. "Live long and prosper" in ancient Vulcan script, black and blue. The artist was also a Trekkie, and we had to take breaks because we kept tearing up (pro-tip: crying whilst giving or receiving a tat is a bad idea).

    Aw, thanks. :)

It was the most spur-of-the-moment tattoo I've ever gotten, but it's also the one that feels the most "right" out of them all. It'll look nicer when my arm's not swollen 15% of it's normal size and all bruised, too!

It's the coolest tattoo I've seen in a long time. Well done!

There's probably a translation for that Vulcan writing somewhere on the Internet thanks to the Trek fans who know their material and do that sort of thing on behalf of the rest of us, but I don't know if we'll ever find out what it actually means other than "hey, this is a very awesome tattoo."

Being a made-up language, it's mostly the sentiment that counts. But using "dif tor heh smusma" and the options for Vulcan script I found through some digging starting at Memory Alpha and ending at this amazing site, it is supposed to say "live long and prosper." It's an imaginary language, though, so ultimately, what matters is that it reminds me of an actor and a character whose impact on me as a child was so great that I still feel it every day.

    Cool, thanks for that link.

And, of course, it's of utmost importance that you love and and enjoy it so much and that at the end of the day that's precisely what a new tattoo should do for the owner and wearer.

Yeah. I'm not exactly aching over the possibility of my Vulcan tat being spelled wrong. ;)

It's also a great bit of stealth nerdiness, like my Wesley Crusher sweater: either a person won't have any clue what it is, or they'll be nerd enough to get it.

Plus, I'm at that glorious place where I have so many tats that they aren't a big deal anymore.

I saw the pic of the new ankle tattoo you had done a week or two ago. That was one of the best ones yet, at least the ones which you've posted about and shared images of online. It's hard to top the multicolored star on your back but these come close!

It's probably more accurate than tat's of Chinese characters.

    "Its means 'faith'."
    "No. It means 'chicken soup'."
