Maybe, but I got the sense he just represents how crappy and undisciplined the town's defense really is. He's got a lot of cocky attitude and thinks he's got everything figured out, but clearly hasn't had to survive out in the wild for long stretches or deal with lots of crazy, unpredictable shit like Rick's people have.

I like how he was all, "Check these out!" in regards to the handguns Alexandria had available and they're all like, "You know we all came in here armed to the teeth with assault rifles, right?"

I liked this episode too, but I'm thinking they're slowly phasing Daryl out (not of the show, but the group). Daryl works best in survival situations with a lot of anarchy and lawlessness. Now that they're back in (seemingly) civilization and Rick is going back into cop mode, there's no place for Daryl. I can see him becoming a problem for the community (possibly teaming up with blonde lady's husband, who was giving me serious Doyle from Sling Blade vibes) and getting exiled and being taken in by Negan.

Or, they could be phasing him out of the show completely and kill him off.

Perhaps. I can see him (and bitter husband guy) running off to negotiate with future enemies, in order to take over the ASZ--starting with killing (or setting up) Rick's group.

I loved how he mentioned being in ROTC like he had been in Special Ops.

That caught my attention as being possible BS he used to deliberately make himself seem like an inexperienced person pumping up his thin "credentials" to newcomers. Sort of a test to see if Glenn & company would respect or blow him off as a scrub.

Either way, Glenn called him out in one of my favorite moments from this season.

TV Walking Dead being its own animal, I see a rift between Aaron and Deanna soon; he might consider a takeover--or bailing if her quest to build ASZ up allows genuine threats (maybe known for some time) into the sanctuary. However, i'm hoping he--and Noah--are not going the Bob route (introduced in one season, only to be bumped off early in the next). The core heroes need "satellite" reactions/actions/opinions as the darker threats creep over the horizon.

Either way, Glenn called him out in one of my favorite moments from this season.

Glenn's swift dodge/punch combo was so satisfying (and Daryl and Michonne having his back was also great, too), but I would have loved some snippy line where Glenn goes, "ROTC, huh? Well, I was a PIZZA BOY."

One thing I'm still not clear on is how many people are actually IN this town? Deanna was apparently making her big announcement to the whole town at the end, but other than Rick's people I didn't see many people. I got the impression there's only around 20 at the most.

And also, I'm sure it's been pointed out already, but just where the heck was the Reverend in this episode?? He was completely missing for some strange reason, and I don't remember if they even had a body double covering for the actor or not.

I saw him a few times lurking in the background. But never saw him i any shots inside the house.

He was only in group shots, like in the living room or when the group first entered the town.

I think the only ones who didn't have anything noteworthy to do were him and Rosita. I don't remember if Sasha said anything, but she did get that smooth kill shot and then the camera's focus right before the title sequence.

I wonder what will happen to Darryl.

Because I don't see him getting exiled, he's just mainly wanting to be left alone and not fit in. The closest he comes to being violent is trying to defend Glenn and Rick was able to calm him down. Plus I don't think that Rick would ever stand for him getting kicked out. Plus him being kicked out and joining any bad group has already been done and if he truly wanted to be with them would be destroying any development he has gone through.

Negan is likely going to appear at some point (some of the actors have hinted at it) and the show seems to be foreshadowing Glenn's death. Like the scene where the Termites almost start the killing with him or several scenes with him with a baseball bat. What if this is really just supposed to throw off the comic fans. If Glenn dies, then Maggie will probably be next since he's really all she has left. Maggie in the comics had Sophia to raise and keep her going. But what if Negan shows up and before he even picks a member of the group to kill, Darryl goes after him and gets killed in the process. This raises the stakes showing that no one is safe and makes the audience hate Negan with a passion. It would be a huge moment for the show, even bigger than any other death on the show so far.

I enjoyed this episode.

Enid is being presented as a scout/spy for someone (Negan?) but that could be a red herring. I'm trying to work out who may have taken the gun (the ASZ clearly utilise surveillance so they're candidates but why take the gun when they must have known Rick would go back for it)

And when Rick originally hid the gun, there definitely wasn't a walker trapped under a load of crap (fairly sure it would have been noticed) so someone put that walker there on purpose as a surprise gift for Rick?

My only criticism of the episode was the way the ASZ was portrayed. It basically seemed like there were only five people living there. Not sure if that was intentional or just a poorly executed representation

It was completely unnecessary. Homosexuality put in there just because it is homosexuality. The gay agenda strikes again.

I don't care whether gay people exist before or after the zombie apocalypse, that is not my point.

My point is that it it doesn't need to be shown on TV and is unnecessary to the storyline.

Nice to see Sasha's sharpshooting skills in the teaser, pretty confirming what someone (sorry can't remember who) on this board guessed- that in those regards she's the replacement for Andrea in the comics.


And in regards to Negan appearing, basically the end of this episode, with Rick saying they'll take over if they have to, mirrors the end of #71 of the comics.
Negan doesn't appear till #100.
So there's still plenty of stuff (and without spoiling things, some big stuff) that happens in between. Now of course they can always change things and it's never a straight adaption, but I don't think with only 4 episodes left this season that it needs Negan yet. Wait till Season 6.

It's nice to see everybody get cleaned up. Hopefully they'll get to settle down for a while. I got a kick out of all the comments about clean-shaven Rick. Looks like Micchone is developing a little crush.

They weren't even walking around in the background/distance though. It just made the whole place seem extremely sinister and spooky. Maybe there's an awesome strip club somewhere on site filled with all the residents (and maybe that's why we didn't see Gabriel either)

The transition was always going to be more difficult for Daryl than anyone else as this was an alien environment to him even before things fell apart.

Am I the only one that liked how Carol pretended to be a harmless sheep? Clearly she doesn't trust this any more than Rick and is already making her own contingencies.

Why did they put the wall support beams on the outside of the walls? Sure, it good against zombies but not against bad humans. Also, there gate is week and they really need a guard tower, or some places to fire at outside enemies from a higher point.
