RIP Leonard Nimoy Feb 27th 2015

"Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels... his was the most... Human."

:sigh:

"Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning."

I feel incredibly selfish saying so but I've been dealing with some stuff lately and it's an especially bad time to lose a cherished childhood icon so it's an extra whammy right now. Saw his reported last tweet and found it poignant:
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP

It is a far far better thing I do than I have ever done before... a far better resting place I go to than I have ever known

It was thanks to Mr. Nimoy's greatness and cultural legacy that Tuvok was the first Vulcan I really connected to; I was of course always aware of Spock, but it was a while before I appreciated him as more than just my mother's childhood Vulcan officer.

Farewell, Mr. Nimoy. Thanks to you, Spock of Vulcan will be remembered many generations hence.

I had a feeling when he was rushed into hospital that we'd get bad news sooner rather than later :( sad news, guess you know you're getting old when all your childhood heroes start to pass away.

Tuvok! Ah kids... :)

That was a really great picture though.

About 22 years ago, I went to children's carnival dressed as Spock. A year later, I took it a step further, and I went dressed as Leonard Nimoy. Well, I was nine, I didn't really know how Mr. Nimoy dressed privately, but I dressed neat, and when the other kids asked who I was supposed to be, I answered: "I'm Leonard Nimoy".

So, yeah, I'm a fan. Farewell, sir.

Apparently Syfy is showing Nimoy programming from 9AM - 2PM EST Sunday.

9 a.m. "The Twilight Zone": "A Quality of Mercy"
9:30 a.m. "Star Trek: The Next Generation": "Unification: Part I"
10:30 a.m. "Star Trek: The Next Generation": "Unification: Part 2"
11:30 a.m. "Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country"

Very cool. I'm sure Nimoy would have a warm chuckle about that.

That's a great photo! Tim Russ certainly did a great job playing a Vulcan true to the spirit of the people that Nimoy helped create while being a distinct and unique character.
