I hold it in contempt because the plot is so stupid and the characters make the stupidest decisions in the history of stupid. As Bob the Skutter texted me from the premiere: "stupidtastic". No amount of pretty makes up for treating the audience like dunces.

Yeah, Prometheus would probably be a lot more amazing if the characters didn't all act like a bunch of unscientific, dunderheaded morons.

Although I will agree that it was one of the best-designed and coolest looking scifi films in quite awhile.

Alien also took a different genre and transformed it into another original masterpiece. In my opinion this period was the white heat of creation in Ridley Scott's directorial career and he hasn't ever managed to replicate it.

Agreed but I'd include The Duellists. Superb debut feature.

Prometheus demonstrated that he needed a better script writer that realizes that 1+1 does not equal 5.

Scott was the director. That was his job. He either approved of the script, or he was negligent.

I refer to insulting their intelligence with the story, the ignorant and stupid "scientists," and girls who, of course, trip and run in straight lines. Calling those things stupid "is an insult to stupid."

And yes, let's not satisfy the audience. That would be horrible.
