“Danger Mouse” – Spring 2016
The world’s greatest superspy, Danger Mouse, returns in dashing, globe-spanning style with a new animated series that features all the classic characters, catchphrases and comedy that made it an 80’s cult favorite. With the world once more teetering on the edge of disaster, the small but heroic secret agent is back to thrill a whole new generation of fans as he attempts to overthrow a host of villainous rivals with the help of hapless hamster Penfold and a collection of state-of-the-art gadgetry and vehicles. Originally a loose parody of British spy fiction, this new “Danger Mouse” series will feature British actor and comedian, Stephen Fry, as Colonel K. Netflix will premiere the show in North America, Latin America, Nordics, Benelux and Japan with all other Netflix territories launching at a later date.

“Inspector Gadget” – March 2015
Everyone’s favorite bumbling bionic detective, Inspector Gadget, is back in an all new CGI animated series. Dr. Claw has reactivated his global crime syndicate MAD and Inspector Gadget must stop him! Backed up by his niece, Penny, her dog Brain, and an arsenal of high-tech gadgetry, the lovable Gadget fights crime as only he can. The 26-episode series, produced by DHX Media, premieres exclusively in the U.S. on Netflix this March and will join the service at a later date in Latin America, the U.K., Ireland, Benelux, France and the Nordics – after the initial broadcast in each country.
DHX is also producing three other family-friendly shows for Netflix. Info on those here.

The character designs seem pretty faithful to the originals. Fingers crossed that they don't screw either of these up.

Dear god, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

That's all I have to say on the matter...

I'm not entirely keen on the look of Inspector Gadget. The eyes look very weird. There's something unsettling about it. Is it just me?

In addition to Stephen Fry as Colonel K, Danger Mouse himself will be voiced by Alexander Armstrong, who's probably best known to us as the voice of Mr. Smith, the computer on The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Not another computer-generated project that looks like some crappy video game from over a decade ago. And please tell me that shit song excert isn't the new interpretation...

So, we are getting/gotten returns -- although new takes in some cases -- of:

"Danger Mouse"
"Ducktales"
"Inspector Gadget"
"Family Guy"
"Futurama"
"Cupid"
"The Twilight Zone"
"The X-Files"

Others...

But still no fucking "Firefly".

EDIT:
Sorry, MOD's -- I forgot I posted so soon after.

I have fond memories of both shows from my childhood, so I imagine I'll be disgusted at everything that's different as it's just not the same. ;)

I look forward to checking them out but usually get disappointed when the people that do a remake miss the point of what made something popular the first time around. I'm also waiting for the new Thunderbirds with a similar cautious optimism.

John Oliver (Daily Show W/ John Stewart, Last Night Tonight W/ John Oliver) and Lena Heady (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Game of Thrones) have joined the cast of Danger Mouse. Here's the full known cast so far:

Dave Lamb as the narrator
Alexander Armstrong as Danger Mouse
Kevin Eldon as Penfold
Stephen Fry as Colonel K
John Oliver as Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III
Lena Heady as U.S. Secret Agent Jeopardy Mouse

Variety

John Oliver is an excellent choice! :techman:

Just from those two pics, I like the look of Danger Mouse, and I hope they keep the humor (humour?) of the original. Inspector Gadget creeps me out right now, too far into the uncanny valley.

Was Danger Mouse popular in America? Never knew that. It always seemed quintessentially British.

Penfold is a legend (Terry Scott will be hard to top).

Various Danger Mouse videos rented from Canadian Tire were part of the regular rotation in my Edmonton, Alberta household growing up. The one where DM and Penfold took a rather trippy space voyage was my favorite. :)

I suspect that the original cast of DM will be hard to top, but then again it won't be my DM it would be today's childrens DM, the same with the recent Thunderbirds Are Go series.

And it premieres on CBBC from September 2015 I believe.

It used to air in heavy rotation on a popular children's cable channel in the 80s but i don't think it ever rose above cult status in popularity and recognition.

Yep, it ran on Nickelodeon here in the US, and I agree that it probably didn't go far above cult status. The only difference is that Stiletto's Italian accent was replaced with a Cockney one.
