So name a subtle moment in any ST that you thought was well done.

^ Yeah, the scene of Kirk putting his boots back on in "Wink of an Eye" definitely deserves mention. Deela putting herself back together in front of the mirror is like a subtler layer on top of the subtle. I'm glad someone thought to bring up that scene. :techman:

SPOCK: Jim, be careful.
McCOY: We will!

Always loved that (perhaps not so subtle) moment in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan!

Nichelle Nichols has said before that she's saying exactly that, and as Nichelle, not as Uhura. The director didn't get, and kept it in.

That's so cool, I had no idea that was an ad lib.

On the one hand, she could be saying she's not weak and innocent. But the classic definition of maiden is a virgin so

It's amazing how certain things can get past like that.

Wink of An Eye is another one--

Deela and Kirk were in Kirk's quarters, nuzzling and kissing and then the scene breaks to Spock doing something. When it returns to Kirk, he's sitting on the corner of the bed adjusting his boots. Deela is brushing her hair.

Very subtle, suggestive scene. I heard no one will admit to it though.

This reminds me of two scenes with Spock...In All our yesterdays, there was the romantic scene with Zarabeth, then cut, and they were sitting on the floor next to the bed, both dressed like nothing happened. It seems there was a sexy time, but some people would say it was not enough explicit. His hairdo wasn't any messed. If he had just a strand of hair out of place, it wouldn't be as subtle as it was.
And in This side of paradise, there was a similar scene, then cut, and Spock was wearing the 'out of my Vulcan mind' jumpsuit and lace-up boots. Was this to tell us something? Or he just decided to swim a bit in a lake, with his uniform on?

Spock's final scene with Kirk in TWOK. So much good stuff there - especially Spock adjusting his uniform before addressing his commanding officer, and also the little bump into the window - so out of character that you just KNEW how badly Spock was injured.

Yes, the uniform adjusting was maybe even more heartbreaking moment than the death itself. (When I watched TWOK for the first time, I already knew he's gonna be resurrected....)

The little bump against the clear wall was to let the audience know he was blind.

Thanks. Funny thing, no one will ever say if they had sex or not, only that it got passed the censors.

I guess for the innocent explanation, you can suppose Kirk was just happening to be adjusting his boots. but Deela primping her hair at the same time in a mirror- adds so much suggestion.

And you got to consider the whole premise of the episode was that Deela wanted Kirk to impregnate her, in so many words.

I've got look at those episodes again. I've heard stuff about All Our Yesterdays, but that one slipped past me.

Funny thing is, that if you took these scenes literally, you'd have to believe that these characters start kissing, caressing, then suddenly stop, adjust their clothes and go back to talking about whatever they were before.

Nobody does that.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I noticed one in Into Darkness and didn't want to start a new thread for it, but...

Recall halfway through the movie that when McCoy and Marcus are on that planet working on the torpedo, the torpedo's door shuts and pins McCoy's arm.

Immediately after Spock detonates the torpedoes and cripples the Vengeance, Kirk and Scotty bring Marcus to McCoy. While Kirk and McCoy are talking, Scotty's face behind them winces as he looks at McCoy's exposed forearm. McCoy then tells Kirk that he removed the Augments from the tubes.

It's a bit of split-second foreshadowing, because Scotty's reaction and then McCoy's revelation imply that McCoy's arm kept getting pinned by those torpedo doors, getting horribly bruised in the process. Even if he had a crew of medical staff and engineers working together (and really, that's the only way you can get 72 people out in time for Spock's trap), he'd still have to work on at least a few of torpedoes. You'd think Bones would complain a bit more!
